so this is my first attempt at simulating light emission (bleeding light)
I used the "fish-eye" + "ghost" effect to imitate blurring. Normally the fish-eye effect wouldn't do anything to the appearance because of the solid color, but I put an empty object in the costume and that somehow made the fish-eye effect control the appearance. Probably something to do with the area of the costume, and how it doesn't matter if the empty object inside the costume is visible or not. If you didn't understand what I said, good because I don't know either
