Rowling for her awesome book series, 'Harry Potter.' ⚠WARNING⚠ If you have not read the full series of Harry Potter, do not look at the bottom of the notes and credits! Severus Snape was one of the professors at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In his youth, he befriended Lily Evans (Harry Potter's mother). His family was poor and there was constant fighting in the household (this is one of the factors to his negative stature). He was the one who told her about magic and its rules. Once he started his education at Hogwarts, he was sorted into Slytherin while Lily was in Gryffindor. He was very talented as a boy and he was an expert potioneer. He was also constantly bullied by James Potter, who would grow up to be Harry's father. Eventually, James saved Snape's life in which Snape despised that moment. This is what caused the rift between Snape and Harry. He also managed to invent a few spells himself such as Sectumsempra and Levicorpus. Eventually, after Snape accidentally called Lily a 'mudblood', Lily stopped talking to him and their friendship disintegrated. However, this did not affect Snape's undying love for her. After he graduated Hogwarts, he became a Death Eater under Lord Voldemort. He accidentally relayed a prophecy to Voldemort and he regretted it later and finding out that Voldemort was going to kill Lily's son. He begged the Dark Lord to spare Lily's life and Voldemort agreed, saying that if Lily doesn't get in the way, he will not harm her. But Lily sacrificed herself for her son anyway and this is what made Voldemort's curse backfire. Snape was heartbroken. He loved Lily so much that his patronus was the same as hers, a doe. He eventually started to work as a spy for Dumbledore. Later, he applied for the DADA job (Defense against the Dark Arts) but he wasn't successful and he was the Potions Master instead. He favored Slytherin over other houses, giving Slytherins an advantage in Potions. Then, as Harry Potter came to school, he could recognize James Potter (his nemesis) in Harry but he would constantly see Lily's eyes. He often gave Harry detentions and he bullied him a lot although they had a few things in common. In Harry's 6th year, he realized that Harry found his old copy of 'Advanced Potion Making' after Harry used his Sectumsempra curse on Draco Malfoy. At the end, Dumbledore found one of Voldemort's horcruxes and he destroyed it but it had a deadly curse that would result in death if Snape hadn't saved him. Dumbledore told Snape to kill him when Draco refuses too. He used the curse against Dumbledore, a deed that he relunctantly acted out. When Voldemor took over, he was the headmaster of Hogwarts. In the end, Voldemort killed him so he would be the master of the Elder Wand. (Search for 'Elder Wand.') He asked Harry to look at him so he could see Lily's eyes once more. Before his death, he gave Harry his memories, showing him everything he has done. This changed Harry's outlook on Snape and eventually, Harry named his son after Severus.
