-Memory Lane v1.1.0- ***Play in Fullscreen for the Best Experience*** Check out my new (and much, much better) game here! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/404165644 -How To Play- Move: Arrow Keys / WAD Read Sign: Down Arrow / S Curated on July 6th by @SCRATCH---PIXEL! Thanks for Top Remixed and 800 loves! ***Before You Comment*** ...no, you aren't able to move in mid air. This is by design. I was testing something new out. Experimenting with new mechanics is a great way to improve your skill as a coder (this is true for many things, actually), and I encourage you to do the same. Ever wanted to find a good, fun platformer with a unique style and exciting mechanics? Do you find yourself wishing you could go back in time to when platformers weren't all exactly the same? Well, look no further! Complete with realistic physics, easy to use mobile controls, and a satisfying art style, this is the game for you! Play through 15 exciting levels, filled with falling platforms, trampolines, and more, that will remind you of the good old days and take you on a nice stroll down Memory Lane. Heyo, @mrCamelCase here with my first game on my new account! Yeah, so this is it. That game I've been constantly talking about like "oh yeah, it'll be out this week!" It's finally here. Sorry it took me so long, I was trying to perfect it and iron out as many glitches as possible (and believe me, there were glitches)! The moving platforms in particular took a while to perfect, but it was worth it imo. The main reason this took so long though is because of the art. Drawing and coding one level took me, on average, 4-5 hours. Multiply that by 15 levels, and it adds up. To try and avoid this in future games (since I get more enjoyment out of coding than I do drawing), I've already thought of a workaround for any future platformers I make. And yes, I know the aerial movement is different. I tried more realistic physics to see how it would feel and play and how it would affect platforming. Feedback on it would be nice so I can decide whether or not I want to incorporate it in any future platformers! Originally I was going to have a high score system, but since I can't work with cloud variables unless I have Scratcher status (which I don't right now), I decided to share the game without a high score system. Sorry guys. Next up is a collab with @-PixelParty-, hopefully we'll have that out in early July or sometime around then, depending on his schedule. I'm also thinking I experiment with pen text engines a little, as the clone based one I have here uses a lot of assets and is limited to 300 characters (since there cannot be more than 300 clones at any given time). I've already shared the mobile compatible platformer engine here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/395370306/. If you want me to share some of the other engines I made for this game (such as the moving platform engine or the text engine), I can do that as well. But yeah, overall I'm really happy with how this came out. And I hope you are too. So here's my first game: enjoy the show, and keep Scratching! -mCC -Update Log- v1.0.0 (6/6/20) - Initial Release v1.0.1 (6/7/20) - Fixed a minor bug with the sign on Level 15. v1.0.2 (6/8/20) - Prevented you from getting stuck jumping on a trampoline. v1.0.3 (6/17/20) - Made a slight adjustment to aerial movement when on mobile. v1.1.0 (6/30/20) - Changed the music, added some extra sound effects, and modified the thumbnail. -Credits- Music: - 8-Bit Ambience by Unknown - Best Day Of My Life (8-Bit) by American Authors Sound effects from various sources on Scratch Art made with Piskel and the Scratch Bitmap Editor Pretty much all coding by me! -Tags- #games #pixel #platformer #platformers #mrcamelcase #8bit #memorylane #piskel
