Use turbo, maybe(forkphorus recommended too). Press space after adjusting sliders.
Based on my project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/391508001/ In this performance visualization, lighter shading means more steps taken by the ray, darker means less. As seen here, when the ray travels near-tangent to the rounded objects it slows as it requires more steps to progress. This produces a white halo around the spheres, capsule and torus. There is also a white band near the center of the screen, likely caused by the ray exceeding its maximum number of steps before actually striking the plane. This explains a performance drop near the middle of the render. The shapes themselves are dark, which explains why the render tends to speed up in those regions. Exceptions include the surfaces which produce an oblique angle with the camera. This can be seen on the top face of the cube. #ray #madness
