LUSTER // MALE // NEON TETRA // SUNLIGHT // JEWELER // TINY // SMALL, POINTED // NICKEL // SLIT // FLUFF (uncommon variant) // UPRIGHT // NO TOTAL: 4 Common, 2 Uncommon PERSONALITY: Luster is a particularly self-absorbed, narcissistic, and egotistic Nautifluff. He always prides himself on being as fabulous as he can be, wearing all sorts of jewelry to complement his metallic horns, which he polishes and shines to "perfection" every single day. However, everything he wears was made by him exclusively; he refuses to wear anything crafted by paws other than his own. Whenever he's not trying to be the most fabulous fish in the sea, he always condescends to others and makes them feel inferior to him, despite being smaller than many other Nautifluffs he encounters. He's generally annoying to be around, but he does at least have have some redeeming qualities. While most of the time his remarks are just dismissed as him trying to pretend he's a genius even though he's not, Luster is actually rather clever and genuinely smart. This plays into his jewelry; everything he does, down to the most minute detail, is done for a reason. He's also resourceful in addition to this, which allows him to make unique pieces out of junk whenever he's low on supplies, such as his fishing line necklace with an actual nickel on it, or his pearl earring that was partially repurposed from a fish hook. If you're willing to put up with him and his conceitedness, the craftsmanship displayed in his pieces is nearly unrivaled. Deep down, though, the reason he acts the way he does is that he's just trying to get at least somebody to pay attention to him. He was always overlooked and ignored when he was younger, and began to grow lonely. Nobody noticed he was there half the time, and when they did, they were usually making fun of his weird-looking transparent tail. Over time, his perception began to shift: since his bright, flashy tail was the only thing that got him any attention, (negative or positive) he began to think that the only way to ever get others to notice him is just to be as flashy as possible. This mindset eventually turned him into the egomaniac he is today, and even plunged him into the profession of jewelry-making. Constantly crafting bright, shiny accessories would only make others notice him more, a perfect complement to his flamboyant personality. Still, even though he's glad that Nautifluffs can appreciate him for his talents, he always wishes that at least someone would appreciate him for who he really is, because behind all that self-confidence and style, he's got a softer side to him that still just wants a friend. It looked great when I was trying to add the transparent elements to it, but the blue and red... just... doesn't look quite right to me. Either way, there's a first time for everything. At least I tried. Man, crafting this dude's personality was super fun too- I've already grown attached to Luster, both in terms of design and personality :D (Fun fact: For most snobby characters I make, I often reference the smiles of other characters to properly emulate what form of annoying entitlement I intend to display. In this case, I referenced Bede from Pokemon XD)
