Unknown to them, there was an old well that had been removed, leaving the open hole behind. The well was cursed to cover anyone who fell in with plants and flowers. Petal fell into it, and the flowers started covering his back. Leaf saw him fall, and grabbed his paw, saving him. The flowers remained on his back, even after Leaf saved him. They later fenced off the hole so they wouldn't fall back in.
