EDIT: I'm sorry if I'm not able to respond to all the supportive comments I'm getting, but know I love and appreciate every single one. <33 Please read this entire project before commenting. I do not mean to harm anyone or offend anyone with my opinion. I do NOT think Scratch is a bad website, I just think it has some flaws the Scratch Team could work on. <3 So yeah. I'm leaving. I'm not going to make this a sob story, because it's not that. I met a lot of great people through Scratch. I made a lot of great memories. This site has inspired me to make animations and art, and I thank it for that. But all good things must come to an end. Here are the reasons why I'm leaving the website. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt. 1. Motivation and Life Over the past year, my motivation for projects started dwindling. This started when I lost my computer early summer last year, and it was a lot harder to make animations on my crummy tablet. My uploads went from frequent to once a month if I was lucky. Two months from now I'm going to highschool. I'm getting a job, and I've started not just one, but TWO webcomics. I simply don't have time to put the effort into making silly projects anymore. On top of that, why post animations here when I can put in a little more effort and post it on YouTube? So yeah. I have no time or motivation for projects. 2. The Community and Site A majority of the Scratch community is wonderful. Wonderful, creative people. But a majority of this community are children. Children who are still learning how to respect other people and their art. Something I hope the Scratch Team enforces is that retracing, stealing, and recoloring art shouldn't be allowed. It's spitting on the original artist that put tons of hours into the piece, and can encourage selling stolen art, which is illegal. If children want to trace art for practice, they shouldn't post it online. Finally, because this community is mostly children, the only things that get popular on the site are either quick, simple animal animations, games, and other things children consume. Therefore, animations with lots of effort and thought put into them can get drowned out by the games and simpler projects. I have seen and experienced this before. 3. Clean Slates and Mature Content Around late summer of last year, I goofed up pretty bad with some friends. We've forgiven and moved on, but I think in order to completely and fully move on, I need to leave. If you are one of said people, you know how I feel about everything. I kindly ask for you not to bring this up publicly, and if it must be addressed it will be addressed through private DMs. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well all around. <3 That aside, because this is a children's site, everything that is shared and posted here must be child friendly. My webcomics are not child friendly. Some of the art I make is not child friendly. A lot of the things I talk about aren't child friendly. Therefore, other sites are better for my stuff than Scratch. That's about it. For my privacy, I will not share my other sites here. If you know my handle, good for you! Hopefully you are aware of the audience I'm addressing. So thank you Scratch, for making me who I am today. I might come back one day, post an animation or two. Who knows? But as of right now, I don't plan to. See y'all on the other side. <3 Finally, for those who are concerned AS OF RIGHT NOW NEVER BE IN VAIN IS NOT BEING CANCELLED OR REHOSTED. I haven't had the time to work on my parts, and once I finish them, the final product will be shared. If it comes down to it, then I will reach out to a rehost (do not ask to be this rehost, I already have someone in mind) so they can finish the project. - Song - Ultimately (Khai Dreams)
