Fullscreen for better quality!! So I decided to make another OC for the hybrid challenge, and I actually really like how he turned out! His name is Caterpillar, mainly after his appearance, which is based off of a monarch caterpillar. His ancestry is a bit blurry, and though he is known to be SilkWing/NightWing hybrid, his appearance suggests hints of IceWing or HiveWing, most likely earlier in his family tree. He's what's called a moonsilk, a concept created by one of my friends that I thought sounded pretty cool. Moonsilk is kind of the opposite of flamesilk, as it glows pale silvery blue and is more delicate. The silk is cool to the touch, and moonsilk dragons have a slightly colder body temperature. During the day the glow of it is faint, but it's very bright during the night. Moonsilk is a lot rarer than flamesilk, and is more valued since it's a safer, less flammable light source. It also allows the dragon to slightly manipulate water, similar to how the moon controls the ocean's tide. However the silk is moved is how the water is manipulated, a skill which has been proven very useful. No one is quite sure how this ability came to be, but some infer that it formed from a mutation in the hybrid genes: IceWing frostbreath, NightWing powers, and flamesilk combined to create a new classification of dragons. I'm not too sure what Caterpillar is like personality-wise, but I'll work on developing him eventually. Anyway, feel free to comment any questions, commentary, or suggestions!
