It was a beautiful day out, the sun was shining. The birds chattered to each other. A dragon lied on the ground, sound asleep. Griffin could hear the tweeting from the inside his cave. Sunshine spilled from the window as he opened his eyes. Something tapped him on the back, as he quickly turned his head. “Could you stop doing that?” He snapped. A bright green dragon stood over him giggling. “You are so annoying already, why don’t you go annoy the others will you?” “Because I thought you were asleep, come on, breakfast will be gone very soon. You’ve been asleep since morning.” Griffin shook his head forcing himself to wake up, as soon as he did that he dashed over to the exit as the green dragon followed. “Baskilisk, what time is it?” Griffin asked slightly worried. “Noon, why?” That’s when he knew he was going to be in big trouble today. He started running towards the breakfast room, as one adult dragon was sitting next to a pile of cooked prey. “Oh hey! Didn’t see you there, heh.” Griffin panicked. “I let you sleep in /this/ time.” The dragon said, her glare turning into disappointment. “Eat up.” She said carelessly tossing a dead cow in their way. Baskilisk was the first to start eating. he pounced in the cows head until, the dragon picked him up. “You know better not to eat too much, have some fruit.” She pointed to a table with bright colorful verities of fruit. The GlidWing pouted in frustration stomping over to the table. He snatched a mango and took a bite as sticky juices spilled from his mouth trickling in down his arm. Griffin walked over next to him and grabbed a banana, pealing away the skin and wolfed it down. “Aunt Eagle, when will we see our moms and dads?” Griffin asked Stuffing his cheeks with banana. “Latter after school.” She replied walking over to grab some scrolls. Baskilisk Instantly spit his food out angry. “WHAT!? HISTORY AGIAN?!” “Clean that up now, as soon as we’re done then you’ll have an entire week of fighting class.” She hissed setting the rolls on the table. Griffin quickly grabbed some fruit and sat down waiting for his next instructions. Oh man, I can’t wait to see my parents, he thought. It was every hatching day the dragonet’s parents would visit. They never went detail when Griffin wanted to know why, “It’s for your protection” Aunt Eagle would always say to them. Then again what danger are they trying to protect us from, if they can’t prove it exists then I might as well not believe it. We might as well not believe it. “Griffin.” He looked up seeing Eagle staring right at him, waiting for some some kind of answer. “Griffin.” “Yes?” “Who started the war?” “Uhhhh- the . . . SpaceWings?” He guessed since he wasn’t paying attention. “The BloodWings.” She corrected him. “The SpaceWings are our protectors of this continent.” Griffin’s eyes widened. “Do mean. . .are you telling us. . . there’s more than one continent?” “That’s for another time. Now, who started the war?” She pointed to a map on the wall. Baskilisk’s arm shot up into the air. “The BloodWings!” He interjected with a bright smile. Eagle give him facepalm and sighed. “Thank you, Baskilisk. Now onto our next chapter, we will be studying-“ Talon steps could be hear from outside as two more dragonets appeared, giggling. Griffin turned his head, there was a Dark purple and a dark red one. Their snouts were covered in blood with some sort bird in their jaws. “We caught hawks to day!” The purple one said spiting it out happily. She flexed her talons and ripped it’s wing off, consuming the feathers and all. “Snake taught us how to hunt in the air today.” The red one said, placing his bird on the ground. “That’s cool! Eagle taught us how to catch scrolls today!” Baskilisk joked waiting for his audience. The red one laughed. “Your gonna love going out today, it’s so beautiful.” He said. “Vampirebat and Nebula, please get ready for class.” Eagle announced. “Yes finaly! We don’t have to catch homework now!” Baskilisk ran over to where the other two dragons where before and motioned Griffin to follow. Griffin felt something holding him back, as he turned his head seeing Nebula. She had the rest of her hawk under her talons as she slid it to him smiling. For a moment they stared at each other their eyes locked in place. It felt endless for him as the SpaceWing lifted her talons off his. “Here, give this to Baskilisk since I know it will be a bit harder for him to hunt in the air since he’s a GildWing.” “See you after school.” Griffin replied hiding it under his wing as he walked over to Baskilisk. Nebula gave him a little wave and smiled. One of her scales glowed on her face thought he couldn't tell what it meant. "You can come out, I checked everywhere!" A voice hollered from outside. The two dragons walked out dragging their tails. A tall green muscular GlideWing walked out, he had a few scratches. “Follow me.” He said as he looked up, toward the top of the mountain.
