I have to say I am grateful for my twin. She always feels a need to protect me, because she is two hours older. Aspen, I know she cares, deep down. I can see that about her, even though according to Ivy, I see that in everyone. Aspen is walking away, muttering under her breath that I broke her phone by putting it in rice. Little does she know that the rice actually fixed her phone, considering Ivy was the one who dropped it in her water glass. *Little sisters.* I heard her say when she slipped back into her room. I could hear a discussion in Asherś room. It quickly grew into an argument. Ivy & I rushed in to see what all the commotion was. Mom was holding dirty clothes & Asherś drum sticks, & Asher was trying to get the drum sticks back. *-you leave them everywhere,* she said, motioning to the clothes, *-& you make noise when I am in my meetings!* she cried, lifting the drum sticks higher as Asher jumped helplessly to grab them. Aspen quickly came into the room with her ear pods in, & watching a prank video. *What is going on here?* she asked Asher with an amused smile. *I am being abused, that´s what.* Asher glared at Aspen. *Both of you, stop! I have had enough!* Mom yelled, silencing them both. Dad came in with a toothbrush in his mouth. *Whatph phoing on fere?* he asked, toothpaste foaming in his mouth. Mom sighed. *Well, this one is disruptive,* she began pointing at Asher who tried to look innocent, but failed. *This one is teasing him,* Mom continued, pointing at Aspen. *I didńt do anything.* she mumbled, walking back to her room. *-& the twins-* Mom began, but was cut off by dad. *Fa fwins?* he spit out his toothpaste in the sink. *The twins never do anything!* *They broke my phone!* called Aspen from her room. Dad turned to us. *Girls, did you break Aspenś phone?* he asked us. I was too afraid to answer, so Ivy of course saved me. *Yes, I dropped her phone in my water glass when I was fixing her internet, but Iris fixed it! She did! Tell him how!* Ivy motioned at me. I realized she wanted me to to talk. My heart momentarily stopped. Me? Speak? Oh boy... Ivy nudged me, & I fumbled over my answer. *Well, I um, I saw this video, that rice saves wet phones, b-because they a-absorb the water, s-so I did that.* I stuttered. Dad is always a good listener. He did not tell me to mind my stutter like past foster parents. Aspen stormed out of her room angrily. *Ivy! I asked you to fix my internet, not drop my phone in water!* she yelled, me covering my very sensitive ears. Dad stopped her. *Aspen, Iris fixed your phone, & I heard you yelling at her. Please apologize.* I felt a sense of pride, that Mom & dad treated us like we were their own. Mom motioned us away from her office so she could do her meeting, Aspen slinking back to her Aspen Cave, & Dad bringing me & Ivy to the basement, where we colored.
