It’s Leaf, back with another map! I’m really excited for this and I love this concept, but it’s pretty complex so let’s get right into it! ✩ script: https://ladyscientist.weebly.com/script ✩ Basically this map is based around a warrior cats au/theory that I came up with with my friends to explain the gender inconsistencies surrounding Mosskit, Bluestar’s deceased kit. In Bluestar’s Prophecy, he’s referred to with female pronouns (which is his canonically accepted gender), but in other books he’s referred to with a variety of pronouns. This has led some people to headcanon Mosskit as genderfluid or non-binary, but I thought it would be very interesting to make a storyline of Mosskit as a young transgender tom trying to convince himself to come out to Bluefur and his siblings while fighting his own inner darkness, and his realization that it’s too late to tell them. This story mainly centers around Mosskit’s death and journey to starclan. So now that we’ve gotten over the basic concept, let’s go over rules! 1 ✩ Please use PMV! In some parts, it’s ok to use a little AMV if it looks better or if you prefer it, but since this map has such complicated shading, just make things easier for yourself and use PMV! It’s fine to use AMV for things such as: small lipsyncs, blinks, ear flicks, transitions, backgrounds, effects, and that sort of thing. 2 ✩ Follow the references! This map is a palette map with a very specific concept, so follow the refs for both the cats and the backgrounds! If you have questions about the palette or need to draw a cat that’s not in the refs, please let me know. Also, if you can, use watercolor shading in a similar style to the background examples, especially the “ThunderClan forest- day” ref! 3 ✩ If you’re making a ref, start with a ref by nifty-senpai and find the closest color to that in any of the backgrounds/refs. For instance, Sunstar would be pale pink with purple eyes, even though he’s canonically yellow with orange eyes. If you have trouble colorpicking from the backgrounds, tell me and I’ll upload detailed background palettes. 4 ✩ Don’t remix until you’ve received the part (unless you’re doing a thumbnail). I’m going to be a lot pickier about animators in this map! This is gonna be highly shaded and emotional. (the real c0deword is your favorite deceased kit, eg. Emberkit! Ignore all others.) 5 ✩ I mentioned earlier that AMV is ok, but if you wanna use shaky animation in parts where Mosskit is cold/scared, that’s awesome! Just avoid using it in other parts. If you think your part needs a shaky animation, first try alternatives like shaky-cam and tweening. 6 ✩ The shading will be the same throughout most of the map: pink lighting, blue shading. However, spirits will not have shading. If the art looks flat without shading, shade and highlight with black and white. Also, if you only can use Scratch, I'm really sorry but I'll almost certainly decline your application unless your art is ridiculously amazing enough to make up for it. Please tell me what art program you use in your application! 7 ✩ Spirit cats should have white outlines and be at 50% opacity. They can also have stars both on their fur and surrounding their bodies. If you’d like, they can just leave behind stars when they move. The StarClan cats (Mosskit, Snowfur, and Moonflower) will follow the same rules, except be at 65% instead of 50. white outlines still though!! 8 ✩ Don’t forget to link your best art and animations, as I will be being very picky with this map!
