Christmas Attacks~Chapter 8, Training ☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁ Kassandra goes with Oli to drop him off with the other kids while the others head to the training grounds. Zoey takes charge from there. She orders York to go get the daggers, bows, and swords. Zoey shows Caleb where the targets are and she heads off to put the training grounds together. Targets are placed in all for corners of the grounds, with some in between as well. First, Zoey and York go over the strength of every weapon, which one will suit you, and how to test them. Zoey’s thoughts swirl in her head. How will they even get to the cult, how will she convince her parents, and other worries. She hadn’t noticed that she’d blanked out until York tapped her shoulder. “Um, sis, I hate to break it to you, but you cannot just stand there. You have to demonstrate, remember? That’s your thing.” Zoey sighs and walks over to the barracks. She grabs four daggers, a bow and a quiver of arrows. Whenever the twins were training someone, Zoey demonstrated the bow and dagger and York did the sword. She stalks to the center of the grounds and grips the dagger in her right hand and one in her left, with one poised at the target over her shoulder near the door, and one poised at the one in front of her. Caleb watches from a safe distance with York. On York’s word, her daggers fly, both hitting her targets with loud shink. Quickly she equips her second pair and throws them as well. Just as Zoey turns, she see’s Kassandra walking into the door, The dagger is just about to hit her. ~~~~~~~~☁~~~~~~~~ Kassandra returns and is just about to walk into the training grounds but see’s a flash of silver, and the looks of horror on Caleb, York, and Zoey’s faces. Smirking, She reaches up, Hand catching the dagger, not even giving her a cut. They all gasp. Kassandra enters. “So, what’s happening here?” “How did you catch that?” Zoey demands. “I told you, She’s good.” Caleb says. “She tried to teach me that but I don’t have her speed.” York says nothing, still staring at the dagger in Kassandra’s hand. “Well, I practice a lot, and I was born to fight.” Kassandra says. “Now, are we gonna train or not?” “You are not training,” Zoey declares. “Your teaching today. Your Skills are beyond what we can do here.” Caleb smirks. “Her skills are beyond what the guards at Selvingale can do.” “What?” York exclaims, “But, they're like legendary fighters!” Kassandra shrugs, her cheeks flushing. “I don’t know why but I just was born with this stuff, It’s called instinct. And mine tells my brain what to do when fighting.” Zoey paces back and forth, her face scrunched up in concentration. “York! Your photographic memory! You probably remember the book from Glidenfall’s library!” “Glidenfall?” Kassandra and Caleb ask together. “Your from Glidenfall?” The Twins nod. “We found you three near the gates of Definque right? Are you from there?” “Yes.” Caleb says stiffly. Zoey and York mumble to each other. “I remember! I have to go write it down!” York rushes off. “What was that about?” Kassandra asks, so very confused. Zoey shakes her head. “Not now.” You two should go back to the hut, I need to think. “Not happening Zoey, Tell us what just happened.” Caleb demands. Suddenly Kassandra collapses, Caleb catches her before she falls and she goes limp. Zoey rushes forward, checking Kassandra’s forehead. She gasps, and draws her hand back fast, as though burned. Kassandra starts to scream and thrash in Caleb’s arms, Then as soon as it starts, it stops, her eyes open, glowing white. She levitates right in front of the two. Clutching at her throat, She starts to thrash again. Kassandra falls to the ground, limbs twitching, her eyes still glowing. Her mouth moves but makes no sound at all.
