Christmas Attacks~Chapter 7, Newcomers ☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁ “So what you're saying is that The cult has announced a hunt for me, and that if someone finds me, They kill me.” Kassandra confirms. She had showered, dressed and gotten ready. Kassandra, Caleb, Zoey, York, Bella and Orson were all gathered in The Reldonus hut. Orson nods sadly. “You should stay here,” Zoey urges, “Where it’s safe!” Kassandra shakes her head fiercely. Hey eyes shining with determination. “I will not leave my mother in the clutches of those evil beings.” Zoey and York both sigh. They had tried so hard to convince her and Caleb to not go, yet she wasn’t giving up. “Oli is staying here. He isn’t going out there with us.” Kassandra announces. “Either you willingly let me go, or I go myself.” “All by myself.” She emphasizes when Caleb opens his mouth to protest. “Don’t try and Stop me Caleb, This is my mother we’re talking about and nothing is going to keep me from getting her back.” He settles back down on his chair, glaring at her, She doesn’t back down. “Fine,” He huffs, “We should let her go, that way I can go as well.” “We would like to go too.” Zoey and York say in unison. “Absolutely not!” Bella exclaims, her eyes flashing dangerously. “None of you will be going anywhere yet.” She continues when Kassandra shifts her glare to her. “I understand this is your mother, but we have to prepare first.” “We can’t wait!” Kassandra shouts. “Who knows what they're doing to her!” She stands and starts to pace, worry lines very deeply etched in her face. They let her pace long enough for her to wear a groove in the leafy carpet. Then Zoey gets up and takes Kassandra’s hands, “Listen, I get that you're worried about your mother, I worry about my mother as well, she does crazy things sometimes.” She gestures towards Bella and she smiles wearily back. “As much as we need to get her back, we also need to prepare you guys, Caleb showed me and York the Dagger skills he knows. He also says that you're way talented then him with both a dagger and a bow,” Kassandra’s mouth twitches at that. “Are you saying you want to train me?” She asks. “No, I’m saying that I want to teach you both skills with other weapons. I think that after I see your skills, You’ll be in no need of improvement. And we will get your mother back if it’s the last thing we do.” Zoey stares into Kassandra’s eyes, her Kaleidoscope gaze not backing down. “Okay, I don’t see why not.” Kassandra smiles. “Oh and I think Caleb needs polishing on his skills,” “Hey!” Caleb protests. “I’m not that bad.” Zoey and Kassandra exchange knowing looks. Before anyone can say anything else, A messenger stumbles into the room. “Mr and Mrs. Reldonus? A boy and girl have been found near our area and have been brought here, both have injuries.” Bella jumps to her feet, “What? Oh dear, Get them to the healing hut immediately!” Her and the others rush towards the healing hut, wooden planks creaking as they run across the bridges. Once they get there, Orson begins pulling off a variety of remedies and vials off the shelves, York and Zoey both help him. Meanwhile, Caleb has rushed off with the messenger to help the newcomers. Bella and Kassandra arrange two beds comfortably. Caleb walks in supporting a red haired girl. The Messenger supported a blonde haired boy, his green eyes looking defeated and dull. Kassandra rushes to help him and the messenger goes off to tell the village leader. Once they are both safely on the beds, Orson and Bella get to work. They both shoo the 4 of them into the front area. “The boy looked so pale, and the girl looked as though her wrist and leg were broken.” Kassandra whispers. “Do you think they’ll be okay?” The worry from before back in her voice. “Of course they will, I’ve yet to see Mom and Dad fail their patients.” York reassures them. “Speaking of your mom and dad,” Caleb says slowly, as if bringing up the topic will make a bomb explode, “What happened to your real parents?” “Real parents?” Kassandra echoed, “But aren’t Bella and Orson your real parents?” The Twins shake their head. “When we were banished, Our biological parents put the blame entirely on us. Now we want nothing to do with them. Bella and Orson are our new ones.” Kassandra shakes her head in disgust as she reaches for both of the twins hands. “I’m sorry for that, Sometimes it’s dumb what our world or some parents will do.” Zoey and York smile at her sadly. “It is.” Caleb takes York’s Hand and the 4 friends sit there, waiting for healing hut, wooden planks creaking as they run across the bridges. Once they get there, Orson begins pulling off a variety of remedies and vials off the shelves, York and Zoey both help him. Meanwhile, Caleb has rushed off with the messenger to help the newcomers. They come out soon enough, Both gesture for the friends to come in the room. Kassandra turns her face away. The girl’s injuries were much worse than what she thought. Her wrists had burn marks on them, same with her neck. Her leg was wrapped in a cast, as was her left wrist. They boy looked better, Still a bit pale, with similar burn marks, but not as many burns, or broken bones. They were both wide awake, peering at the assortment of people in front of them. Kassandra and Zoey hurry forward to help them sit up. “What are your names?” Kassandra asks, sinking down on the girl’s cot. She manages to say her name, then bursts into a coughing fit. “Lotté Bákker” “That's a beautiful name.” Kassandra says and Lotté smiles, “And I promise you’ll be okay.” She then turns to the boy, “and you sir?” the boy also smiles at the title. “Andríes Vissen. Who are you people who treated us?” Kassandra introduces them one by one, She can’t explain it, but she immediately trusts the two. Kassandra doesn’t know if it’s the friendly aura around Andríes or the kindness in Lotté’s golden amber eyes. Caleb has hung back, watching carefully, not wanting to be noticed but has no choice when Kassandra beckons him forward, glaring. “This is my fellow town mate, Caleb he chose to be banished with my family..” She falters, letting the sentence trail off. Her family was broken apart. Her Father was dead, Mother kidnapped, all she had left was Oli. Andríes must have seen the sadness in her eyes, because he reached over and squeezed her hand. “It’s fine if you don’t want to tell us.” He says in his Irish accent. “Hi!” a cheerful voice breaks the sad silence, Oli strides in, clutching his teddy. “Who are you?” Lotté’s eyes light up. Kassandra can tell that she already likes Oli. She also has a feeling that they're gonna get along very well. “I’m Lotté Bákker, and this is my friend Andríes Vissen,” Oli walks over to her and sets himself down next to his sister, he wraps his arms around her waist, “It’s nice to meet you Lotté and Andríes, I’m Olivder, but everyone else calls me Oli.” Everyone can’t help smiling, Oli seems to brighten every room he walks into. Kassandra’s dark thoughts disappear and she squeezes her little brother and ruffles his hair. “Hey little brother. It’s nice seeing you after 3 days.” She says. “It’s nice seeing you too, and do not do that again, you could have been lost forever! That's what Bella said!” Everyone in the room laughs at the scene. A 10 year old scolding a 16 year old. Oli scowls. “It’s not funny!” he says. “Oh yes it is, little guy.” Caleb says smiling. He walks over and gently distangles Oli from Kassandra, “We should leave these two to rest.” He offers Kassandra a hand and everyone files out, one by one.
