Swarm landed near the ruins, frowning. Night was settling over the Old Continent, casting the plains in shadow. If she didn't find somewhere soon, the Collectors would be here, and that never meant good. Out of the corner of her eye, just barely glinting in the sun's final attempt to keep the moon from the heavens, something shone... something pointy. Far from intrepid, the hybrid approached the pointy object, bending down gently to pick it up. As she did, her talons pricked the sharp edge, and Swarm jerked back. It clearly wasn't alive, but it wasn't safe either. Keeping her claws firmly away from that side, she picked up the object, feeling the small weight in her palm. It wasn't particularly heavy, nor did it seem old, and certainly not sharp there, but it felt dangerous. Especially her small encounter with the more painful side. Swarm turned it over, and seeing no hint of a label or explanation of what it was, she ran her talons over the smooth wood. Who had left it here? Why was it near the ruins, of all places, when it was certainly something of value? Most importantly... what was it? Swarm pondered over these three questions that sprung to mind as her ears picked up a small sound, too dragonlike to be a simple plains animal. Carefully palming the strange object, Swarm crouched, taking off to once again hide from the Collectors. hehe i had fun writing that
