Entry by @CosmicKiwi // Fantasy Genre // Backstory for two of my OCs (Check them out here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/318923491/ ) ✧ Please Note: Skellan and Telari are 1742 year old Elven twins (about 15 in our year count). The live on a different planet; they were the only children of the king and queen of the land. Their parents died 19 years ago (of course these elves have extremely long life spans) so to them it was kind of recent ig A Kreen is a salamander-like creature with colorful parrot wings. A tequine is a large white bird with a blue stripe down its back. A Jurnaee is a leopard animal with color changing abilities. And finally Kranar (the thing they were eating) is kind-of like steamed cabbage. Song from this project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/282572904

Description

The sky was blue. Almost too blue, as if it were mocking what would come. “Come ON Telari! I can’t afford to wait for you!” “I’m going as fast as I can! Maybe you should slow down!” Skellen and Telari Queens were going to the Wood; a forbidden place in the elven realm. They had snuck off under the pretense of ‘a picnic.’ Of course, it wasn’t entirely a lie; they did plan to have a picnic in the Woods. As they approached the outskirts; a stale and coarse wind blew the golden hair of the young adventurers. If they knew what was coming, they would not have been smiling as they entered through that old rusty gate. Their mother or father would have told them- should have told them; but it was too late now. Their parents were all but gone; sleeping in the earth with flowers atop them. Perhaps this was the reason Skellan rebelled so fiercely; but we may never know the answer to that question. The gate creaked in the wind as the two travelers left it behind. As they walked, they saw creatures they had never seen before; a kreen, a tequine, a jurnaee; things only their legends had spoken of. 'Why was this place forbidden?' Skellan asked himself over and over again. 'Was it the trees?' True, the trees were rather dismal looking, but not enough to make this place dangerous. They sat down for a picnic in a small clearing; and spread out their goods. "Let's see... one cherry tart, a lemon tart, two rolls, some kranar, a block of cheese.. Skellan! You forgot the water!" "Water? Was I suppose to grab that?" Telari was annoyed. She couldn't trust her brother to remember anything. "Well, we'll just have to find some. I don't fancy eating tarts and rolls without something to wash it down with." They both rose, and started searching around the edges of the clearing for a water source. That's when Skellan found it. "Telari!" He yelled. She couldn't miss this. "What is it?" She shouted back as she ran to his side. "Look" was the only word he said as he pointed toward a small circular pool of water. It was glowing. "What-" "I don't know." As they walked closer to the pool; they saw a sign. It read as follows: The crystalline artifact Forged in the old ages long past They could not contain it And neither can you Stay away; it was hidden for a purpose Do not touch; it will destroy. "Well that seems a bit dark" Skellan said as he stooped toward the water. "What are you doing!?" Telari yelled. "Do you want to destroy us!?" "No" Skellan said calmly. "It said do not touch, but the water is touching it just fine. I believe that the sign meant WE cannot touch it; not elves." Skellan grabbed a huge nearby leaf. "And if you're wrong?" Telari shot back. Skellan just ignored her. He wrapped the leaf around his hand and dipped it in the water. nothing happened. He took a deep breath and plunged his hand into the water. Still nothing happened. He grabbed the artifact in his gloved hands and drew it out of the water. It was beautiful. 'Why would they ever want to get rid of this?' He thought to himself. He put the gem in his bag, and told Telari to grab some of the water out of the pool for them to drink. After they finished their picnic, they realized it was getting dark. This Wood in the daytime was one thing, but the Wood at night-... They hurriedly packed up and left. As the sun fell, they raced through the creaky gate; not waiting for its lonesome farewell. They reached the castle just in time. Their uncle was just about to go search for them. They had a pretty solid explanation though. “We- uh- we lost track of time!” Telari yelled. “Yeah! She’s right!” Skellen shouted up to the gate. “Well alright you two; but don’t let it happen again!” Skellen couldn’t sleep. He knew the artifact was right there next to his desk. ‘Would it hurt to take a peek?’ He thought to himself. ‘No one would know.’ He slipped out of bed and walked over to the dresser. ‘Just a peek’ he said. Telari knew something was wrong. She could sense it. I suppose it’s a twin bond she always had; but it was warning her now. She got up and ran toward Skellen’s room. There was a light under the door. She burst in just in time to see Skellen touch the artifact. There was a white light and a huge crack; as if reality was splitting apart in front of them. She remembered nothing else. Skellen woke with a start. His thoughts wandered. ‘Where am I?..’ ‘What is that sound?...’ ‘Where is Telari?..’ ‘Telari!’ As he remembered what happened he glanced around. There were bits of rock, soil, and debris everywhere. What had happened? Suddenly he looked up. Something was wrong. Those weren’t his stars, his moon, or his sky- Skellen’s heart pounded. “Telari!” He yelled. “Telari!” He got up and started to run. That rock- that debris was his. He knew it. “Telari!” He couldn’t stop himself; his chest heaved. He had to find her. ‘What if she’s...’ No, he couldn’t think that. She had to be alive. He had to tell her. The artifact had destroyed their world.
