welcome back to my ~art class recaps~! press space/arrow keys/click the screen to continue :) last week we were looking at pattern and texture! pattern is a repeating motif, whereas texture is the way something feels (or looks like it feels). the first image is my piece on pattern; i'm not really happy with how it turned out for a few reasons, primarily because the pillars are very wonky and her hands are too big. my initial idea sketch was so much better but i had no way to transfer that to the official paper ;-; however i like the idea and the dress! just not so much the execution. you can see i used pattern in the under layer of her skirt as well as in the repetition of the very wonky pillars lol. the second piece is for texture! i included this in the fur lining and muff of her dress, the feathers, the branches in the foreground, and the tree bark in the background. i included a zoomed in image as the initial orientation is pretty pixel-y ^^; i don't like that the fur lining is uneven around the dress or how small her head is ;w; tiny wittle bitty head with a huuge body! i like the face though, and i think the textured parts came out well. the second piece is based off of this magnificent image that i did not do justice to! https://www.pinterest.se/pin/430023464397056261/ let me know what you think! do you use pattern and texture in your art to add dimension or interest?
