hello again! this week's art class was on line and shape :D it is interesting just how complex and involved abstract art can actually be! there is a lot more thought and intention that goes into it than you might assume. just like drawing a story without dialogue can be challenging, communicating through a picture without any recognizable objects or shapes is a difficult thing to do. i've gained a lot more respect for abstract artists over the course of my class! that leads me to the assignment we had to complete- make 4 black-and-white line drawings with no recognizable shapes that communicate the following four moods: 1. playful 2. tense 3. enraged 4. mellow unfortunately i made a mistake on my "mellow" piece and put some circles in there, but otherwise this was a fun assignment to complete! i recommend you try it too :D it really makes you think about the properties of line as they connect to human emotions, even when those lines have no recognizable qualities. i don't have a lot of information to share that i learned from the class (mostly because i forgot it ahah) but i hope this exercise could be helpful at least! this class is definitely teaching me to be much more intentional with my design and composition. have a great week and happy easter! <3 but wait! there's more! ~the announcement~ i am going to be joining the upcoming webtoon short story contest! keep an eye out for more updates and the release in may & june :D
