I LOVE this character! Might add a meme or animation later on to boost my chances, but for now have this drawing! I also wrote a backstory below (it's rather long, but I'm proud of it!) ------------------------ The charcoal kitten blinked her eyes and looked around the library. Eclipse was her name, and at the moment she was having a hard time figuring out where in the world she was. Her golden freckles were just barely peeking out underneath the pointy hat that was clearly meant for a cat much larger in size, and the thing annoyed her immensely. She slid her paw up to it, and, in one swift motion tore it off. Of course, her little paws didn't make for the best grippers, and before she knew it she too was on the musty floor of the room. Shaking, she lifted herself back up, leaving the hat on the ground. Not the best method, but it got the job done. Good thing, too. Under the cover of the cap's brim, she'd had a hard time seeing much of anything. With her regained vision, Eclipse gave a closer look to the room. Stacks of books, mostly about spells and potions, lined the walls in messy piles. Spiderwebs coated the corners, some of which currently held some very unfortunate insects. There was a single table in the middle of the room, and empty jars and beakers were haphazardly strewn about on its top. Yup, it was clear there was only one person to whom this library could belong: A witch. Only question was, how'd she end up there? Like any other sane kitten, Eclipse knew the dangers of interacting with a witch. Which is why she avoided them AT ALL COSTS. So how'd she get here? Well, the answer would have to come from somewhere else entirely. Luckily for you, the reader, Eclipse wouldn't have to wait much longer to find out. Because unluckily for Eclipse, right at that moment, the very witch who owned the library came gliding (witches don't walk, they glide) into the room. "Well, Eclipse, I see you've found your way." nodded the witch, causing Eclipse to jump in alarm. "How do you know my name?" Questioned Eclipse, narrowing her eyes, "How did I get here, and why?" "Slow down, there," sighed the witch, "you see... I took you from your home because I've chosen you to be my apprentice." "You-- wait, what?" asked Eclipse more confused than ever. "It's really quite simple," responded the witch, "every witch has a cat apprentice, to one day take their place in a human form themselves. It's how I started out, and it was getting time that I get an apprentice of my own. And, since you seem to possess some magical qualities, I've chosen you." "You can't--" sputtered Eclipse, but paused, realizing that a witch could in fact do whatever they wanted. So rather, she asked a wiser question: "what does this mean?" "You will stay here in the library with me, learning all there is to know about magic. It may seem daunting at times, or even irritating, but I guarantee that by the end you'll be the best and most versed witch in all the land. You're learning from me, after all." Eclipse would have protested, said she wanted to go back to her home, her old life, but she knew it was useless. You couldn't argue with a witch. Besides, she did have to admit, witchcraft did sound kind of intriguing... Using her mouth, Eclipse grabbed the hat that she had thrown on the floor, and place it back on her head. Feeling in character, she asked only one question to the witch: "How do I start?" The witch nodded in satisfaction, beckoning to the table, her new apprentice following shortly behind.
