Deltarune THEORY: how it's connected to UNDERTALE! SPOILER WARNING! (just letting you know) so, trying to figure out what the heck was going on between Deltarune and Undertale was driving me crazy. then suddenly, something hit me. and, surprisingly, it made total sense! now, Toby Fox did confirm that Deltarune was an alternate universe of Undertale, but my theory goes along the lines of that. so, to help understand, here's a refresher of the story of Undertale: there was big war between humans and monsters, but because of determination, humans won. the monsters were forced underground by a barrier, that could only be broken by seven human souls, and it takes at least one monster soul and a human soul to pass. alright. so, Asriel was the son of the King and Queen of the underground. then, one day, a human fell underground, named Chara. Chara and Asriel became like siblings, and they became a family together with the human. then, Asriel and Chara came up with a plan to destroy the barrier. Chara became sick and died, so that Asriel could absorb their soul and cross the barrier, and from there, take six more human souls from the village. however, Chara's last request was to see the golden flowers in their town. once Asriel crossed the barrier, and brought Chara to the garden, the humans in the village thought that Asriel killed Chara, and attacked him. he could have killed all of them with his power, but chose to show mercy. and with that, the humans killed him. but..... what if... Asriel never died? what if Asriel successfully killed and absorbed six more human souls, and broke the barrier, letting all monsters free. from then on, monsters settled in the world above with humans. they adopted another human child, named Kris, who you play as in Deltarune. Chara would still be dead, Asriel lived, and is older now, and that's why he was in college. all of the years of monsters being underground never happened, so Undyne and Alphys don't know each other, along with other characters of Undertale never meeting. mettaton was made to kill humans who fell underground, but he wasn't needed, so he was never even made. to me, this all makes sense! however, this is just a theory. none of it is necessarily true. love and favorite if you liked this theory! i put a lot of thought into it. but that's just a theory.... a GAME THEORY!
