Copied and pasted from AutoEvolution The fifth generation of the beloved Supra nameplate is officially called the GR Supra, since most of its development was carried by Gazoo Racing (GR). The main design theme emerged from Toyota's Calty design center in California, where the Toyota FT-1 Concept concept car was penned as well. Underneath that voluptuous body is mostly BMW tech, with the platform being largely identical to that used on the 2019 BMW Z4. Engines, transmissions, front and rear tracks and wheelbase, even the exterior mirrors and most of the buttons inside are straight out of the Z4, with the main differences between the two cars being exterior design, naming and pricing. That said, the GR Supra will only be available as a Coupe, while the Z4 is roadster-only.
