Instructions

Original【 2017 】 Cloverkit woke to Sunkit's tail in her mouth. She spat it out, disgusted. "Sunkit..." She mumbled. Her ginger sister was still asleep. Cloverkit heaved herself up. She prodded Sunkit with her paw. "Sunkit! Wake up!" Cloverkit meowed. "Wha..?" her sister murmured sleepily. "I woke up with your tail in your mouth. I really don't want your fur for breakfast." Sunkit looked like she had no clue what was going on. "Oh. Sure, I'm sorry." Cloverkit nudged her sister up. "Come on, let's go get something to eat." As they padded to the outside of the den, Cloverkit tripped over a furry lump, realizing it was Peachkit. "Hey!" she yowled, "I was trying to get some good sleep, unlike some cats." "Sorry," Cloverkit apologized. They continued to head out of the den, only to be stopped by Honeypetal. "Where do you think you're going?" The queen asked. "Outside. We were going to the fresh-kill pile to get some food. We're starving!" Sunkit replied. "Okay, but don't get into trouble. And take Peachkit with you." Sunkit groaned. "Why do we have to take that mouse-brain with us? She'll just get in the way!" Honeypetal's whiskers twitched in amusement. "I should be saying the same about you. You're both about a moon younger than her." Cloverkit hestitated for a moment, then finally answered, "Fine." They woke up Peachkit and brought her outside with them. "Is everyone trying to stop us from getting a decent meal?" Sunkit muttered. They each chose a vole from the fresh-kill and settled down to eat.

Description

Improved【 2020 】 Cloverkit blinked open her eyes to a lovely view of Sunkit's paw. She pushed it out of her face in annoyance, waking up her sister. "Cloverkit, why in StarClan did you do that?" Sunkit protested sleepily. "Because your paw was in my face, mouse-brain. You don't understand the concept of personal space," Cloverkit explained with exasperation, giving Sunkit another playful shove. There wasn't much room in the nursery anymore. Now that she and Sunkit were nearly six moons old, it had grown to be rather cramped. Cloverkit could barely stretch without colliding into another kit. She couldn't wait to be an apprentice. "Hmph," Sunkit grunted, giving her a look of disagreement. She stepped out of her moss nest and stretched, smugly hitting Cloverkit in the face with her tail. Cloverkit let out a hiss of protest. She pounced on her sister with sheathed claws. Sunkit looked at her playfully, then crumpled to the ground dramatically and yowled with mock pain. "You've killed me," she whispered slowly, then went stiff and stuck out her tongue. Cloverkit sprung on top of her with a look of triumph. "Ha ha!" she laughed boldly. "The mighty Cloverstar has defeated another foe!" She returned to the ground, stepping off of Sunkit, and pompously kicked a cloud of dirt into her face with her hind paw. The two kits scuffled on the ground for a while, play-fighting. Eventually, Sunkit stood up, shaking dirt out of her fur. "Alright, that's enough messing around," she declared, nudging Cloverkit. "Let's go get something to eat." Cloverkit meowed in agreement. Her stomach growled impatiently. The two kits padded toward the nursery exit. However, Cloverkit was delayed after she tripped over a furry obstacle. This contributed to her argument about the nursery not having enough space. "Peachkit!" Cloverkit scolded. "What are you doing?" Peachkit was the biological daughter of her adoptive parents, and was an enormous pain in the tail. Peachkit glared at her and yawned. "I was trying to get some sleep," she replied flatly, as if it were perfectly obvious. "That's nonsense! It's nearly midday!" Cloverkit exclaimed, bringing herself to her paws. "We've got nothing else to do, might as well take advantage of sleep. When we're apprentices we'll have to wake up at the crack of dawn," Peachkit explained, curling up again with her soft tail over her face. "Then you'll wish you had listened to me and gotten sleep while you could." Sunkit shook her head, rolling her eyes. "Whatever," she meowed sarcastically. "We're going to get something to eat. Have fun sleeping the day away." Peachkit gave them a dismissive flick of her ear and shut her eyes as they padded away. Right as they were about to leave the holly bush den, their adoptive mother, Honeypetal, who had been chatting with the other queens, gently blocked them with her tail. Why was every cat in their way? "Where are you two going?" she asked curiously. "Outside," Cloverkit announced. "We're going to get some breakfast," Sunkit explained. "And maybe get a story from the elders," she added thoughtfully. "Sounds like fun," Honeypetal replied, moving her tail. "Don't get into any trouble!" she called after them as they eagerly left the den. Cloverkit twitched her whiskers in amusement, and she and Sunkit approached the fresh-kill pile. They settled down in a patch of soft grass beneath the shade of the oak trees and shared a vole together.
