A rush of fear and panic shot through Spottedfern's veins. "Troutfreckle-" She whispered so softly it was barely a breath. She pushed further back into the pile, feeling a surprised rush of relief as she felt Troutfreckle's warm fur next to her. Dark shapes flitted amongst the beams and haystacks of the barn. "Who are they?" Spottedfern wondered. A hiss sounded up above them. Suddenly, a dark cat jumped down on them from above. Spottedfern screeched and pulled Troutfreckle out of the way. The cat landed, spitting, on the hay. Brilliant amber eyes stared at them warily. "Who-" Spottedfern heard Troutfreckle start. "Who-who are you?" Spottedfern pressed closer, fear throwing her caution out the window. "What do you want from us?!" She spat, and they waited for the mysterious cat, wreathed in shadows, to reply.
