Instructions

Drag the slider to set the number of squares for the radius. The slider maximum constrains the circle inside the stage boundaries. This project links pencil and paper to Scratch code. Draw a circle on squared paper and count the squares. Code the circle in Scratch and code the algorithm to calculate the area and perimeter of a circle on the grid. Try it using pixels, without the help of the grid!

Description

Instead of the programmed button, you could programme the SPACEBAR. The READY-STEADY-CODE fine line vector grids open up many opportunities to maximise the potential of Scratch as a methodology for maths teaching using SCRATCH. Grids donated by Seamus O'Neill (readysteadycode).
