To this day, no one knows. But personally, I think the reason why is because Akumu, the demon cat who possessed Runa, was basically made out of anger and fear. And when the Marauder just said those three words, "I love you," Akumu began to crumble. And that's why he couldn't bear the Marauder touching Runa, because the love he had for Runa left a mark on him- a mark stronger than anger and fear put together.
