The 'world' is, in fact, nonexistent - it refers to her mind and not an actual 'world'. It tells of her struggle to escape her depression. Later on, it explains how she got her depression - once she was a happy girl, but after her father passed away, she fell into depression. At the end of the story, the girl takes her own life and awaits meeting her father, supposedly in the afterlife. >>
