Since it was first introduced in 1992 and until 2005, the McLaren F1 was the fastest street legal car, being then defeated by Koenigsegg CCR, Bugatti Veyron and SSC Ultimate Aero TT. The McLaren F1 could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in no less than 3.2 seconds and could reach a top speed of 230 mph. Since the maximum speed was restricted by the 7500rpm limitation, some people say that the car could go as much as 243 mph. As you can imagine, buying such a car isn't cheap at all, a McLaren F1 being sold for approximately $810,000 which is a pretty high price taking into consideration that it is supposed to be a road car. However, since it was first revealed to the public in 1992 until today, the McLaren F1 remained one the most popular cars in the world.
