Spottedfern crept through the forest on paws light as feather, tasting the air. A mouse was nibbling on a nut in front of her. Step by step, she stalked it, and waggled her haunches, ready to pounce. Suddenly, something jabbed into her side. "Ouch!" She complained, opening her eyes. Starlight still oozed through the warrior's den entrance. She'd finally fallen asleep for a little bit, but had not nearly gotten enough sleep. But her drowsiness vanished like mist in morning sunlight when she remembered what was happening. "Spottedfern!" Daisyberry, the Clan medicine cat, hissed. "It's time for you to go to the island and meet Troutfreckle." Spottedfern pushed herself out of her nest and gave herself a quick grooming. Thoughts swirled through her head like leaves blown in the wind, visible for a second and then vanished. Spottedfern padded behind Daisyberry to the camp entrance. "Wait! Spottedfern!" Duskpaw was bounding towards them. "Good luck!" Spottedfern smiled at the apprentice and licked the top of her head. "Thank you, little flower." She murmured to Duskpaw. Behind Duskpaw, Aspenflame walked up. "Come back safely." He purred and brushed his muzzle along Spottedfern's. She gave a small smile, but then hurried after Daisyberry. The amber-eyed she-cat gave Spottedfern a sympathetic look. "You'll be fine. You're strong and brave, and intuitive. Don't worry." She flicked Spottedfern in the side with her tail and sped up. Spottedfern's head jerked up. Surprised by the sudden praise, she blinked twice and followed Daisyberry. The pair padded along the shoreline, and Spottedfern tensed as they passed WindClan territory. The hazy outline of the island took shape, and Spottedfern cautiously placed her paws up on the log. "Good luck!" Daisyberry called from the shore. Spottedfern balanced along the log and jumped down onto the island on the other side. She brushed through the greenery until she saw the Great Oak, towering out of the center of the clearing. It calmed her heart to see the great symbol of peace and unity, everlasting. She glanced around. "Hello?" She called shyly. A pale pelt flashed into view from the other side of the tree. "Hi Troutfreckle." Spottedfern said, shifting her paws. "Do you see the full moon?" He asked suddenly. Spottedfern's eyes widened. "Yes." She whispered, and suddenly the air between them crackled.
