Description

(Note to readers: to see the art of the other cat in the project, just press space) Spottedfern woke up, expecting to hear the busy sounds of camp outside and to see daylight streaming into the den. Instead, silvery moonlight fell through the entrance to the rocky crevice, shimmering like the gray lake in sunlight. Spottedfern let her gaze rest on the glittering moonlight and flicked her tail, bored. Suddenly, a reddish glow spread through the moonlight, changing the gentle silver-white to an ominous, faded, but deep red. Surprised, Spottedfern got out of her nest. Scraps of moss clung to her pelt and she brushed them off with a hind paw. She padded cautiously to the entrance of the den. She gazed up at the sky with unconcealed horror. The moon was full, for one, even though it should be waning. But the source of the red light was clear. The moon was red, like a dragon had flown above it and poured blood over the silver circle. A screech rose to her lips, but disappeared swiftly as the light flickered back to normal moonshine. /What was that???/ Spottedfern wondered. Her bewilderment and fear seemed...echoed, kind of. It felt as though she was feeling another cat's feelings as well as her own, and the double emotions bottled up inside her like a river gushing against a barrier, gaining force until it was ready to break. Spottedfern stared at the star-speckled black blanket of the sky for a long time after the red moon went back to normal, thoughts churning speedily. /But why...that was not normal. What sort of phenonemon was that? That wasn't natural. A red moon...have I heard a legend about that? Oh StarClan, it's been three days since the Gathering, I have to go with that cat Troutfreckle on a journey with no aim...yet. Wait a minute...could that moon have been a-a sign?1/ She thought about it and muled over it for a long time, until the sky was bleached with sunlight and the warriors began stirring. Hollyglint, a female warrior who's black pelt was often remarked to look like a starry night sky due to the silver glints in it, padded up to Spottedfern. "What're you doing out here?" She asked. Spottedfern shrunk back at first, then shyly looked up. "Nothing." She murmured, her thoughts still haunted by the image of the bloody moon.
