Instructions

People of all ages use mobility aids, like wheelchairs, crutches, canes, walkers, and scooters. In this project, some animals do too :) Watch a manatee, flamingo, and mountain lion dance with their mobility aids!

Description

This project was inspired by some events in my life! About a month ago, I broke my ankle and so I've been using crutches. A couple weeks later, my friend got a cane-- she has chronic pain that sometimes makes walking and standing very challenging, and the cane helps a lot. We've been talking about how our mobility aids help us do things like walk and stand and dance, and even how they can give us *new* dance moves that we didn't have before. This project is a celebration of the things mobility aids help us do. So the manatee and flamingo are inspired by my friend and I! The mountain lion is inspired by dancer and choreographer Alice Sheppard, who uses a wheelchair because of a disability. I did not capture the coolness of her dance style in my animation (that's way beyond my animation abilities!), but I chose a mountain lion because the way she moves in her dances reminds me of the way mountain animals leap up and down mountains.
