"Troutfreckle! Something's not right!" Troutfreckle turned to see his niece running toward him. "Yes, Nutkit?" He asked. "I saw Frogfur flexing his claws! I tried it, but nothing happened!" Nutkit wailed. "Let me see." Troutfreckle mewed. He held up her paw, and saw something that surprised him horribly. Nutkit was devoid of the sockets in a cats paw, which harbored the sharp claws that could be shown at any moment. Troutfreckle looked away nervously. "Ask Stormberry or Moondapple." He mewed. Nutkit nodded, and bounded toward the medicine cat den. "Troutfreckle!" A new voice called him. Heartnose was calling him over. Troutfreckle padded over. “Yes?” “Something suspicous is going on at the ShadowClan border.” Heartnose meowed. Troutfreckle nodded, understanding. “Who will be on the patrol?” Troutfreckle asked. Heartnose flicked his tail at he group of cats near them. “Maplefish, Stilltail, and Frogfur.” Troutfreckle narrowed his eyes. /I’m going to have to work with Frogfur!/ He thought angrily. Still, they padded away toward the rivers surrounding camp. They crossed, and Troutfreckle’s nose twitched as the reached the ShadowClan border. Something wasn’t right. It smelled disgusting! As they moved on, Troutfreckle realized what he was smelling. He ran toward Heartnose. He looked at Troutfreckle. “Yes?” Heartnose asked. “ShadowClan has been marking our territory!”
