Press space :) Please look in the studio titled something along the lines of ReverseTale(I have added this project to the studio) before reading this, otherwise it won't make sense! [The backstory] Oh, the things we could've done. So many things. The human and monster war. This was a huge, bloody war. Many people were killed in cold blood on both sides, but the Humans suffered far more than the Monsters. Asgore wasn't about to allow the monster race to be killed. Before the war, Asgore had mostly pacifist beliefs. He didn't want to hurt people if possible. But this was too important. Despite Toriel's disagreements, Asgore personally sought out the naive prince of the Humans, under the pretense that he wanted to discuss peace, and took his Soul. Having a human Soul had it's problems. Asgore had to almost constantly fight for control, but at first it was fine. Then he took another Soul. Then another. And another. He informed the monsters that only specific people he could trust could take a Soul. A couple close friends took one. Asgore ended up having 7 human Souls. Beside his friends, he decimated humanity. Barely any survivors were left. He hadn't intended for the damage to be this bad, but with 7 Souls fighting for control over him, he couldn't think straight. But he had enough sanity to leave some of them alive. In order to keep the remaining survivors of the kingdom safe, he ordered them into the Underground, and created the Barrier with the Souls he had, casting them away. His friends cast out their human Souls, and the monsters ended up living a normal life on the Surface. Toriel wasn't exactly happy about the amount of damage done to the humans, but she accepted it since it was Monsters or Humans and she didn't really prefer either. After several centuries, Toriel and Asgore decided to have a son. It was around this time that in the Underground, the current prince became king, after his father died from [unknown circumstances]. The new King knew the barrier was created using 7 human Souls, along with power from monster magic. He quietly sent guards out to kidnap 7 people he figured no one would miss(barring one of them who'd definitely be missed), and executed them. He stuffed their Souls in capsules and hid the capsules. He couldn't destroy the barrier himself. Humans can't absorb human Souls, as well as the fact that the barrier was FAR more powerful than normal due to the fact that monsters with human Souls are practically godlike. He needed a monster Soul. His current scientist, who ended up being one of the 7 since he was questioning the King's intentions, confirmed that with a monster Soul he could use the human Souls to break the barrier, using the Monster Soul to amplify them and cause them to activate. He ordered for the Royal Guard to be created, specifically for the purpose of capturing and later killing a Monster if ever one fell. Every day would be spent patrolling for a Monster. That'll be important later, I guess. Toriel and Asgore had Asriel. Very happy day. They weren't that worried about him, since no one knew of any ways to fall into the Underground, and have basically forgotten about it, per-se. Asriel didn't have many friends, which was kind of sad for him. He was very extroverted, and after talking to his parents about how he was lonely without friends, he got to visit Gaster's house often, to talk to Sans and Papyrus. Despite them being far older, Asriel viewed them as very close friends, even though Sans felt kind of like Asriel was a pain in the neck, since he was immature. One day Sans took Asriel up the mountain for the day, per Gaster's request. He wasn't that interested, and let Asriel run around pretty unattended, figured he'd be fine. He watched the sun nearing sunset for a little while, and after a while he realized Asriel was gone. He started to look, and couldn't find him anywhere. Sans didn't panic. The silly boy is probably just hiding somewhere. It's probably fine. Right? He found a cave, a large one, and a huge hole in it. He looked down the hole. Asriel was there. Unconscious on the ground. He tried to teleport him up. It didn't work. Sans rushed home, telling Gaster what happened. He sure as heck wasn't going to try jumping down there, he'd die. Gaster told Toriel and Asgore, and they asked Sans for details. His magic wouldn't work down there. The barrier. The barrier was covering the entire Underground, though it was only visible at one area. Magic couldn't pass through it, which is why Monsters couldn't teleport through the wall as they pleased. Toriel and Asgore knew that the mountain was over the Underground, but not that the hole was there. They were devastated. Their only son was dying down there, and they couldn't save him. Considering the fall, he was probably already dead. They chose not to go after him. It was too dangerous, it wasn't worth it.

Description

Please look in the studio titled something along the lines of ReverseTale(I have added this project to the studio) before reading this, otherwise it won't make sense! [The story] "Chara!! Chara!!" "Shut up, Frisk. I'm busy." "CHARAAAAAA" "WHAT?" "I found a sheep!! Like in the book!!" "A... sheep?" "Yeah!!" "A sheep." "Yeah!" "... A Sheep?" "... Yeah?" "Oh my gosh, it's a monster. Frisk, go away. I need to kill it." "Kill it?! No no no!! Mommy said-" "Mommy is A MORON. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Now GO." "No!" "... Sigh." Chara poked at the goat boy with her knife. No response. "Is he... Dead?" "I don't know!" Frisk poked him. "Please?" "Please what?" "Please is the magic word!" Chara rolled her eyes, and picked the boy up. She'd kill him later. She's not stupid enough to commit murder in front of her little sister. "Kid?" Asriel opened his eyes a slit, then jerked his head up. It was pounding, but he ignored it. He was freaked out. Last he remembered, he was playing out in the yard. Where was he? "Woah, calm down." "Poor sheep!" "He's not a SHEEP." Asriel's eyes darted back and forth. "Where am I?!" "My house. You fell a long way and fell unconscious. You've been like that for a few weeks. Can I ask you some questions?" "But- where am I?!" "Underground. Now, what's your name?" Asriel opened his mouth to respond, but closed it. What was his name? Asriel didn't remember his name when he woke up from his weeks-long coma. Chara asked Frisk for a name and got the suggestion "Nemo" Which she didn't agree with, so she named him Carlos. Her chance to kill him had passed. Chara's mother had guarded him like a hawk ever since he showed up. She was upset, but let it slide. For now. She ended up becoming quite close to Asriel, to her surprise. He was a great friend, so maybe.. Monsters weren't that bad? No. He must just be nice because he lost his memory. They got closer. Frisk got lonely without her only sibling, and started to withdraw herself from others. They got older. No one knew of Asriel yet. Chara still couldn't get his Soul. One day, Asriel told Chara that he wanted to go home. Chara told him he couldn't. He tried anyway. Asriel went out the door. Asriel ran through the snow, despite her yelling. Chara followed him. Originally, Chara's parents acted as the Toriel personality together, but after Asriel left Chara became it. She followed Asriel around, planning to stop him if he got too close the the King, who was far too dangerous for him. I plan on writing some one-shots --maybe a whole fanfiction, but not likely-- for this AU. Hope you enjoy it :)
