Recently, I started to accept commissions and I was approached by a lady who wanted a pencil drawing of a photo of Dome Rock that she had taken. The shot of the drawing that I have here is incomplete, but the finished product turned out quite nice. Dome Rock is one of the five rock formations in the Scott’s Bluff National Monument area located in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. I found the history of the area to be quite fascinating. The National Monument is located on the Oregon Trail, and it was named after Hiram Scott, who was an employee of the American Fur Company. The other four rocks in the monument are Crown Rock, Sentinel Rock, Saddle Rock and Eagle Rock. Saddle Rock and Eagle Rock are directly attached to Scott’s Bluff, and the other three rocks are detached from the bluff.
