(I might make an official name for this fanfic soon but rn im lazy so n o) Zelink for my soul: the fanfiction [disclaimer for those who read this: contains cheesy (but cute) events and involves MUCH zelink, so if you don’t like those things, you don’t have to read it lol] Chapter 1: A Visit Before Ganon Link clambered up to the top of the Temple of Time where King Rhoam (or rather, King Rhoam’s spirit--) sat, needing to talk about something that was on his mind even before his journey. He felt empty, but knew exactly how the King would be able to comfort him. He didn’t even need to make a sound as he approached the King, who knew he was there. “What do you wish to know, Link?” He said in a warm yet serious tone. “It’s. . . Well, it's hard to explain.” Link said softly. The King didn’t turn around, but simply spoke as he stared at the sunrise, “I have all the time in the world. Come, you seem to be troubled.” “It’s just. . .” Link started, “I’m nervous about going up there,” he looked over at Hyrule Castle, which was drowning in Ganon’s power, “What if I can’t save her? She’s been protecting everyone from Ganon for 100 years, but I got sent to the Shrine of Resurrection trying to protect her. . .--” “Why would you say that?” The King asked, “If anyone can save her, it’s you.” Link smiled sadly, “Well. . . I was thinking about one of the first memories I got back. The princess was asking. . . What if I hadn’t chosen to be a knight like my father?” “Link, if it makes you feel better. . . My daughter really does care about you,” King Rhoam said, finally meeting Link’s eyes, “She wouldn’t still be fighting if she doesn’t think that you could take down the Calamity.” Link perked up a bit and looked at him, “R-really?” He nodded, “Everyone believes in you, my boy.” “I know this will probably sound pretty cheesy but. . . You’ve kinda always been like. . . A second father to me. I never knew my father or my sister that well, but getting to stay at the castle was like being with my family.” He hesitated, “Which is exactly why I need to destroy the calamity and do everyone who lost their lives justice,” He added. The King smiled, “You haven’t changed a bit, even after a century. And, you know, I feel the same way. No matter how. . . ‘cheesy’, you’re like a son to me. But perhaps you will be after you get Zelda back,” he said, and laughed a hearty ‘Oho ho!’ Link rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment and chuckle, “I feel much better now. Thank you, your Majesty,” he replied with a smile. “Of course,” The King said, “But I must go, for I need to let my spirit rest. I cannot come down to Hyrule for long before needing to leave. In the meantime, I would start making my way up to the castle. . . Save my daughter. . . Link. . .” He said, as his spirit faded away from the world. Link looked around at the now empty room, climbed back down the ladder, and looked out at the castle on the horizon. ‘Alright Ganon,’ he thought, ‘Time to end this.’
