It's a bright, chilly morning today. Perfect for a sweater and a pair of jeans to cover up the leg hair you haven't shaved for a month. This morning, my parents had to take my dogs to the vet, which meant I was home alone. I was sitting on a comfortable, well-used, felt chair, when I heard the doorbell ring. I usually don't answer the door right away, to stave off salespeople, but I was three feet away from the door, so it wasn't too much effort to get up and yank open the door. When I shambled to the door, I thought it was going to be a package guy. However, when I poked my head out, I was very, very wrong. A worker, wearing a bright yellow construction vest, and a hard hat, appeared at my doorstep. I gulped in fear; what if it was something important?! He mumbled something I couldn't hear. After all, he positioned himself a good distance from the door, plus he wasn't speaking very loudly. I could make out a few words: energy, TV, and a few other words I've forgotten. Shielding my eyes from the rising sun, I awkwardly pleaded, "Um, could you, uh, come back, um, later?" He mumbled something I could barely hear, and I quickly shut the door. Suddenly, from the outside, I could hear, "Or-" My heart pounded. He was still talking! My hand opened the door, veins filled with shame. He rambled on for another minute, which I, even more awkwardly, assured him to come back later. I gave him a quick goodbye, as I shut the door again. The reality of the situation nestled into my stomach, as I gave the mirror an agonizing look for help. Lesson learned; when home alone, avoid the door, because you're going to embarrass yourself to the end of the Earth. Music: Noika Ringtone (Arabic)
