Description

The raging wind made the furry cloak whip around wildly, like a dancing flame. The bitter cold prickled his skin, but he didn't mind at all. Winter never fazed him anymore. His nerves had become numb to the blizzard. How many times has he been through this? One...two...three... The man didn't know. All he knew was his goal: Get through the blizzard. As his enormous and heavy boots trudged through the thick snow, the man pulled the hood over his face. He knew well that tiny shards of ice or snow would blow at his face and do grave things to him. It didn’t quite help that he was burdened with the task of delivering a large package too. The package contained several items, of which he did not know of, that were heavy, and most definitely very rough. The wind bellowed and pushed him in its raging fit. The man grunted from the effort, but pushed forward, determined as always, of course with a grim face. He was almost there. He knew it. The tingling feeling through his body told him so. A small smile formed across his lips. Clutching the package tightly, under his thick cloak, the man pushed forward. And soon, faintly in the distance, a familiar glimmer of light appeared in the distance. The light of the light post. The man let out a small murmur of joy. As he approached, more lights came to view, and soon buildings—houses. He smiled, then let out a sigh of relief as he reached the familiar light post. He leaned slowly against it, ready to close his eyes and take a huge snooze. He let the package slip from his grasp and drop to the floor. Crack. The man’s eyes widened. Instinctively he screamed as the ice broke underneath him. He didn’t have time to gasp at the icy cold water coming in contact with him. The man tried to let out another scream, but he coughed at the sharp icy breath he took. He couldn’t move. His body wouldn’t let him. The man felt himself sinking. He tried to move, but to no avail. How could he have done that? Why was he so foolish to have let the package drop? It seems as if he hadn’t learn that even the tiniest shard could do grave things to him, even death.
