This project meets a social studies GLE for fifth grade as found in the Sunshine State Standards: Benchmark SS.B.1.2.2: The student knows how regions are constructed according to physical criteria and human criteria. The purpose of my project was to familiarize students with the physical locations of all fifty states, as well as to help students begin to associate the state shapes with their names. After playing with this puzzle a few times, I hope that students will be more confident and accurate in reading maps of the United States.
