Description

Dressed up my characters for Halloween again this year! You are free (and encouraged) to do something similar with your own characters if you'd like! ^-^ (WARNING! Extreme nerdiness ahead-- proceed with caution!) The "Tales of" series was one of the first RPGs I was introduced to, and with an up to four players co-op battle system accompanying an intriguing story it was an immediate hit to play as a family. If you have friends and/or family who love RPGs, cooperative play, and deep (albeit complicated at times) plot, then I can't recommend these games highly enough. I've only played some of the titles of this series, but I thoroughly enjoyed every single one of the ones I did get to play. The characters in this piece are dressed up as who I mained the most in each of the "Tales of" games I played (with the exception of one of the games sporting two representives). (Press space or click to cycle through images) Mist-- Colette Brunel (Tales of Symphonia) *trips over the smallest thing* "Sorry!" Symphonia was the very first "Tales of" game I had ever experienced, and I'm not even ashamed to admit that's most likely the reason that this game is my all-time favorite of the series. The plot twists blew my mind as a young child, and I really grew attached to the game's quirky cast of characters too. Though I mained Colette as often as I could for a lot of the game, I eventually ended up using Raine a lot more towards the end of the playthrough due to her extremely useful healing abilities. And another thing-- the music of this game is just...<3 Sparky-- Sorey (Tales of Zestiria) "Fethmus Mioma!" Zestiria's plot wasn't anything special, but it had enough depth to keep me invested in it. The world-building and the idea of invisible seriphim living amongst humans was pretty cool. Armatizing to pull off some extra flashy moves was a lot of fun too. The characters are all pretty memorable to me (for the most part), and each brought their own charm to the story. Sorey was one of the only characters I mained who had no healing artes, as opposed to most of my other picks who could all heal in some way. The other non-healers I mained were Colette and Luke. Spring-- Jude Mathis (Tales of Xillia) *doing leg stretches* "Gotta keep in shape" Xillia's story and characters...some of it didn't stand out to me compared to other titles in the series. Despite this, I still had a lot of fun with the game. The Lillium Orb feature of gaining abilities was very interesting to play around with. It was also great to be able to use a character that could both run in for an attack and heal at the same time. Of course, taunting to regain TP was plain silly, but that's something I can remember well (if the aforementioned quote means anything). EDIT: Have played through Xillia 2 now and my opinions towards all the characters have much improved Dove-- Cheria Barnes (Tales of Graces F) "UN-believable!" Graces F is the most recent game I played in the series. Its plot can get a bit cheesy at times, but I loved seeing the relationship between the main cast and how they interacted with one another. I don't have much more to say at the moment because I'm not quite finished with the afterstory yet. Aurelia-- Luke fon Fabre (Tales of the Abyss) "It wasn't my fault!" Abyss was the second Tales game I had ever played (not counting Symphonia 2: Dawn of the New World). It was also the first and only time I experienced a Tales game entirely on my own. When I received the game as a surprise Christmas gift on 3DS, I was ecstatic. My expectations were high, and lo and behold the game did not disappoint. Abyss easily had one of the best story lines out of all the "Tales of" games I had ever played, falling just short of Symphonia (though again, a lot of that probably has to do with nostalgia), and its plot twists were very well executed in my opinion. I will say that some of its characters don't quite reach the level of memorability that Symphonia's cast set for me though. Midnight-- Raine Sage (Tales of Symphonia) "Who hit me on the head with a kendama?" <See Mist> Raine proved to be an adept healer, and I quickly got used to her play style. I overused the heck out of Revitalize once I learned it and as long as there were orange gels around and I was alive, I ensured no one would get KO'd most of the time. I did use Symphonia twice, but the only other game I had played besides the 5 mentioned was Tales of Symphonia 2: Dawn of the New World, and well...that's still technically Symphonia. Also, I can't really remember who I mained as in that game. Though I did like the new characters, I remember being disappointed that the original cast wasn't used as much. Time taken to draw: way too long TuT Idk...probably at least 12 hours
