okay um quick disclaimer: don't get mad if i get any information wrong. i haven't finished SU or seen the movie, so calm yourselves. I'm going off of the spoilers I've already seen. Um Anyway Why is everyone so obsessed with Spinel? Everybody's all like "Oh, she's so cute and adorable and innocent! I just wanna [insert affectionate saying here] her!" First of all, I get it. She's a villain. Everybody loves villains. But the second thing is, she's a selfish chunk of rock, which would be fine, but cliche, considering the fact that *most* homeworld gems are selfish. But it's not. Why, you ask? Because she has no real reason. Her excuse is "pink rockmom left me in the garden now i'm gonna go murder all her friends" like wh- that's one of the worst reasons for revenge i've ever heard. Come on, Rebecca Sugar. You can do better than that. "Oh, but MK, all the villains YOU like are selfish!" True, but they all have good reasons. For example, Bryce Tankthrust. She ripped out her own heart to give it to her crush, only to be rejected. And, because of this, she no longer had feelings (since she had no heart), which drove her to do all of the things she did. Celmer. He was sick and tired of his people being ignored. He wanted his people to be noticed, and acknowledged. So, I guess technically, it wasn't selfishness, but there was an Elmer that said "No, this isn't right." when Blame told him what had happened. Rob. He didn't even WANT to be the bad guy. He was the bad guy because he got left in the super-sargasso se-- er... void. He wanted to get rid of Gumball so that HE could be the hero. (Granted, he saved Gumball from the void after Gumball saved HIM, and at the end of the show he was trying to save everyone but, again, that's because he wanted to be the hero.) If you ask me, those are all good reasons to be the selfish bad guy. Not getting left at the grocery store.
