Instructions

This is just something I think about very often, and would love to tell others about. I want to talk about why finding a unique style should be important, but not take up every living waking moment of your life. What does it mean to find my style? Do you think that when you find you style suddenly... Everything you draw will satisfy you? All of a sudden your drawings look the same? Wouldn’t that be boring? You’ll always have inspiration? I’m going to answer these questions to the best of my ability. When I find my style, will I be satisfied? Answer: No. But that’s what makes a good artist is the fact that you want to improve, you want to be satisfied. That is how you know you’re getting there. Will all my drawings look the same? Answer: No! When you find your unique style, you’ll know it. Your art doesn’t have to all be the same thing, to still be ‘you’. It’s how others see your unique personality. Someone who loves adventure will likely make their drawings exotic and colourful, while people who are fans of jazz even might have a more relaxed, contrasted outlook on their art. Will I always have inspiration? Answer: No, that’s why you put down the sketchbook sometimes. You go out and see the world. Maybe a scene from your day is stuck in your head. Draw it. You could turn the people in your memory into animals with their personality. A bully could be a sly, sneaky fox while the victim is a rabbit. That’s why imagination is powerful, because it’s just your unique outlook on real life, not a fairy tale. How will I know when I found my style? To be honest, I don’t know. Don’t get caught up in checking sites like pintrest or deviantart for inspiration. Go see something real. Imagine a playground as a castle. What would live there? What is the terrain like? I hope this helps.
