well hOwDy! this is my entry for "sunset sky" i just love her paws and the color scheme is eeeaaa alright now time to talk about her: name: persimmon (symbolizes how she was bitter with immaturity, but became sweet with wisdom as she grew) age: 14 (still young but extremely mature for her age) personality: intuitive, strong-willed, and independent backstory: When Persimmon was merely 7, she was playing by the seaside. Her mother was talking to some friends near a cluster of trees, still on the beach. Persimmon looked up at the beautiful sunset that night, a warm fire crackling in the distance. She was starstruck. Then, she gazed down at the water splashing gently about a foot away from her paws. Her eyes widened, the stars were reflected in the water, tiny beads of glitter. The water would ripple, and it'd look as if the stars were moving in and out with the tide. She looked at the sky to see if they were actually moving, yet she couldn't even see the stars. The sun was just setting, and clouds were at a stand still in the sky. "Maybe the ocean can see the stars when we can't", little Persimmon thought. She looked back at the starry water, frozen with amazement. Slowly, she stuck her simple, dark pelted paw out to touch the water. As soon as she touched it, however, she was pulled beneath the strange liquid (press space). Her curiousity morphed into pure fear, as she fell in almost slow motion. After a brief moment, she began to realize she was breathing. How could she breath underwater? She gingerly opened her eyes, although it seemed idiotic to do so in the salty ocean, she had no time to think. She was bewildered to see before her something that did not seem like water. All around her was stars, some large, some twinkling, all in little clusters that looked purple, blue, and even yellow. They were still merely specks. She suddenly heard a light humming sound in the deafening silence. A shooting star was racing around in front of her. Suddenly it came so close it bumped into her cheek before continuing to zoom about the vast, liquid, or whatever this place was. The place where it ran into her felt warm on her fur. However, the happy yet insanely impossible moment was interrupted as a muffled scream broke out sounding so far away. Her eyes went black and then she could see the starless sky above her. Now she felt warm breath on her face, replacing the strange feeling on her cheek. She shifted her gaze to see her terrified mother standing beside where she was. Persimmon was laying on the soft beach she had been a moment before she touched the "water". She coughed and then whimpered. Her head was pounding and she felt out of breath. "Persimmon! What on earth happened?!", her mother's shaky yet familiar voice said "I-I,", Persimmon stuttered, her eyes blurry with tears. Before she could get a word out, she heard her mother and multiple others gasp. "What happened to your-your your paws! And-and your cheek- oh my!", her mother uttered fearfully. Persimmon raised her weak yet somehow dry paw to see it was no longer her usual dark fur color. It looked aglow with yellow, orange, red, and purple. She sat up in pure shock to discover her other paw was the same. One of the outspoken friends of her mother said "What a disgrace!" Persimmon was confused. Her mother looked at the others' prejudice and furious faces. "Clarise, you know it is absolutely shameful to have something so, so different from the rest of us! Especially something that is brought upon your kits!", another "friend" added. Clarise, Persimmon's mom, began to speak in a tone that sounded as if she was about to cry. "Just leave! All of you! And Keep Quiet!" Persimmon was scared, and what added to her fear was hearing her mother sob in the dark of the night. She crawled over to her, curling beneath her mother's chin. Most of all, she was confused. Why was it a disgrace? How did this happen? What DID happen? Persimmon did not know. She cried as well, trying her best to stay strong for her mother, but she was hopeless. After what seemed like hours of weeping and being fearful, her mother spoke. "Persimmon. Now I don't care right now what happened, but we need to flee from the camp. You know how father and the rest of the clan will react. And listen, my sweet fruit, no matter what happens, I love you, and it was my fault I wasn't watching you that this happened." She looked up to her mother's somber eyes but loving eyes. "But mama, it wasn't your fault at all! It was mine, all mine, I shouldn't have been so stupid!", Persimmon cried. "Now now, it doesn't matter who's fault it was but the clan is going to come back to shame us and who knows what. We must leave NOW." Persimmon looked at her mother scared yet brave for what was to come. Her mother, picked up her scruff that was now speckled with stars and rushed off into the cold, empty night, through the trees at high speed, tears gently rolling down her face, drying in the wind. (continued below)
---7 years later--- "Pers, will you go grab some firewood?" "Yes, ma'am.", Persimmon purred gently. Now the two cats were living in the depth of a forest. They had built a whole camp for themselves, and were getting along fine. However, everyday Persimmon wondered what had happened that night 7 years ago, and where her father could be today. ---the end!--- holy cowwww i am so sorry that was so long but i was writing and i could NOT stop lolll i won't say anything else lol love your designs snoopy! later my dudes ~
