Description

children of the future, 1 of 3. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This is the first in a trilogy of projects about the climate crisis I will be releasing over the next while. I can scarcely put into words how utterly heartbroken and betrayed I feel seeing all this horrifying destruction around me. And the weight of the knowledge that it's all only going to get worse is absolutely crushing and I'm one of the lucky ones. Living in the midst of a climate breakdown is.......a lot. It's a lot to deal with - emotionally, besides everything else. And those feelings can be paralysing. With this project, I wanted to express some of what I'm thinking and feeling. And to open up the conversation more about climate grief. Because it's okay to feel these things. There is a lot to grieve for. But, please. Don't give up yet. The fight is not over yet. And oh, if we go down, we will go down fighting. In my next two projects, that is what I will focus on: taking action to save our futures. It's okay to feel. But don't let it paralyse you. Don't give up. Your planet needs you. And, in the words of Greta Thunberg, to the adults and the politicians and the millionaires and the climate criminals and all the people in power: WE ARE WATCHING. AND IF YOU CHOOSE TO FAIL US, WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU. Credits: All art is my own. Music is "Remembrance" by @lightspeedmind134 (edited by me) Voice at the end is Greta Thunberg, from her speech at the UN. Some of the text throughout the project is drawn from some quotes from her too. Some more notes about the making of the project: - That blue thing on the planet is supposed to be a cyclone or huge storm, like the ones that devastated Mozambique this year. Unfortunately I don't think I drew it in a way that was very clear. - I used a combination of Inkscape and Autodesk Sketchbook with my drawing tablet to create the art. - The style of the eyes and hands was inspired by Crusher-P's music video "Propaganda". Originally this project was going to be completely in black and white like that video, but the project sort of evolved in a different direction. - I traced over photos of my own hands for the hands because I'm not good enough at drawing hands free-hand yet :( - Please let me know if you find any bugs or if the project goes out of sync or anything like that!
