Chapter 1: 4 seasons later The Dog who Sees Everything Sandwing was sitting next to Springclaw, it has been a busy day training and catching prey for the pack. The sun was setting behind the hills and the lake ready for its rest. All the dogs in the pack had sat down to eat but Stormsnout. Sandwing walked over to her grey and yellow apprentice and nudged him. “Why the frown?” Sandwing asked sitting down in front of him. “It is great weather for a meal! I should know because I can control it.” She joked, trying to cheer Stormsnout up. “I don’t like what I see in the future Sandwing, I see death by a brown, white, and grey dog. It looks like Onestar from GrassPoint Pack but it can’t be, he is so nice!” Stormsnout said looking up at Sandwing. His face was saddened. Him and Onestar made friends at the pack meetings every week. They seemed like best friends but not too attached because of territory. “What should we do?” Sandwing froze, she and Springclaw told all the pack leaders and 1st commands about Markhowl’s prophecy. Could Onestar be in it, a strong, fit, tall warrior? It makes sense, the prophecy did say that “dogs will fall under a dog so tall. Brown, white, and grey down goes the prey.” Prey? The animals that we eat will go down? Will we starve? Sandwing wondered. Her head started to hurt, Sandwing got up and rested her tail on Stormsnout. She then led him to Wintertail’s den, their leader. It was a big cave at the far side of the camp, big enough for just two dogs. Inside the white and grey spotted leader sat with his tail woven between his paws. The den sky-hole let it the last rays of light illuminating the cave with orange light. The male dog looked up from his white plump rabbit. He looked as handsome as can be, it was no wonder that he is partners with Fallclaw, she was a beautiful brown dog with the most shiny, sweet eyes any dog can ever have. “What’s up? It has been awhile since you brought a young one into the den,” Wintertail smiled as he nodded at Stormsnout, he and Wintertail were related. Brownose, Wintertail’s son, had Stormsnout with Springclaw. Stormsnout never really liked the work he had to do because his mother was first command. After Springclaw’s punishment of cleaning the beds of the pack members, Wintertail told her that she can have Brownnose as a mate. Springclaw didn’t argue, she did like Brownose but was hung up with Markhowl to talk and get to know him more. Sandwing was glad when Springclaw had Stormsnout, he is going to be the best hunter and warrior the pack has had in a long time. “I think Stormsnout has a hint to the prophecy. He might have just found out who is the ‘dog so tall’. Stormsnout can you state in every detail you can about your vision,” Sandwing told her apprentice. Stormsnout looked up at Sandwing with a confused look. Of course he would be confused. We only told the leaders and 1st commands about it, Sandwing thought looking back at Wintertail. The leader looked at Stormsnout and padded over to him. Sandwing jumped up about to go get Springclaw when Wintertail shook his head knowing what she was about to do. She sat back down and wove her tail between her paws. Wintertail was talking to Stormsnout in a quiet voice, so quiet that you could hear a mouse from a few camps away. Sandwing got some of the conversation while staring at the Skyhole. “So my mother broke the rules four seasons ago? That’s what changed everything!” Stormsnout shouted. His paws slashed at the ground sending dirt flying. Sandwing never seen him so mad while teaching him. Stormsnout was usually happy. Until 3 seasons ago! Sandwing realized. Clawsnout, Stormsnout’s friend, reported Stormsnout to be barking cries in his sleep for the past 3 seasons. Summerleaf had said it was just nightmares but Springclaw looked into Stormsnouts mind and saw more than just nightmares. Same as Brownleaf, he went into Stormsnout’s dreams and saw death. Sandwing knew this because she was the one who was training him. “Why? What did it cause? I want you to write everything you can,” Wintertail commanded. Stormsnout hesitated. Sandwing could tell he wasn’t practicing on his claw-writing. Every dog needed to know how to write even though they don’t want to. It was the best way of communicating and remembering the history. Instead of telling them, the packs decided that it was the best way to make the story non basis. Stormsnout went to the leaf pile at the far side of the den. The pile was a mix of fresh green leaves and old brown leaves. Stormsnout picked up a green leaf in his mouth carefully. The dead leaves scattered around, awaken by the slight movement of Stormsnout. He sat down and placed the leaf on the ground and started clawing out his note. continue....

Description

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST> Wintertail mumbled at the writing. Sandwing padded over and looked at the writing. It was not the best but better than his normal. Stormsnout backed away from the leaf giving more room to read the small writing. He sat down next to Sandwing and signed. Wintertail finally looked up, his face said it all. The leader flew out of his den leaving Sandwing and Stormsnout alone. “You did well, now go and eat. I’m going to give you a battle lesson tomorrow,” Sandwing said softly pushing Stormsnout out of the den. The sun had finally set and the pack was getting ready for the night. Springclaw was assigning night patrols and camp guards. The camp was as busy and quiet as usual. Sandwing headed to her den after picking up a rabbit to eat. She didn’t share it with anyone like everyone else did. After eating the prey she pushed the bones to the trash area in the den. Curling up in her nest she had only one thought. A dog named Onestar will cause trouble. A pup from each clan will be born from each pack. They will save the packs. Sandwing closed her eyes but didn’t have a peaceful sleep.
