Green flag, then use mouse, space, or arrow keys to change images; moving the mouse will move the image (coding by @drowntheclowns / @virtual-boy) (this is only artwork btw nothing else) hey guys! somehow despite all I have to do for college, I choose instead to paint Emara characters, go figure. It's occurred to me recently that I have a lot of trouble with specific features of the face, particularly the eyes, and that I'm also often unhappy with the colors I use to shade skin. So, I decided to go seek help in the form of YouTube tutorials! The first painting is before I went and looked at them, and the second is about 3 weeks after that, when I took the time to watch the vids. Do you think I've gotten any better lol? (as a side note, there's still some things that I do like about the first painting, like how I was a bit more aggressive with varying colors on the skin and clothes; hopefully I can re-incorporate that as I go forward) Anyway- descriptions of the images here! 1: yes it's the angry dancing one lol -- it was supposed to be a style steal for Lynx but I didn't really enjoy how it turned out, and I don't think it was successful in terms of that goal so I'm just gonna do a different one for that! I'm most sad that they kinda lost their attitudes by the finished product. I also had trouble incorporating the lineart properly, as I kept it on a separate layer. 2: sketch (blown up, so it's blurry) for the previous! I think the sketch in terms of lines was closer to Lynx's real style, but she has more of a grasp of the skull than I do, so it's not quite there yet xD I had fun with those noses and lips tho! 3: the painting I just finished today! It's just Ali taking money out of his wallet; I'm trying to work props into my stuff so I force myself to practice everyday objects too lol. By the way, if you want to know what videos I watched exactly, I'm more than happy to provide links for you, just ask! 4: WIP of the previous, but by then I was already almost done whoops-- the painting was all on one layer, so I couldn't separate it at the end either. You can see at the bottom some unshaded stuff though -- I started out with lineart, then colored on a layer under, and then I merged the layers and just painted from there -- I discovered the secret to utilizing lineart in the painting >w< 5: a secondary sketch that I had made while first drafting. (it wasn't the final lines but I lost those to the painting) 6: the initial idea sketch, just so you can see it! Comments and critiques are welcome, I am always struggling to improve~
first image full qual: https://sta.sh/0d725wewean second image full qual: https://sta.sh/0o37rqxed3g reference image was used for the first one... but I lost track of it ;w; if you look up "dancing" or "people dancing" something along those lines, you'll probably find it eventually lol! Painting+art was done by me tho. Also it looks like Sultan's back arm both comes out of nowhere and disappears into nowhere so that's great characters in first image: Ali (left) and Sultan (right) from Emara: Emirates' Hero This was originally a style steal of @chamomiile-'s style, but I'm gonna do a new one, this doesn't really look like her style lol Character in the second image is Ali from Emara: Emirates' Hero!
