Ayesha's Story: Ayesha lived an amazing life. She loved her parents and didn't ask for anything she know would make their parent feel guilty, and she was still happy. Everything went wrong over the summer. She was coming back from vacation with her parents. Their GPS took them through the bad part of a city they didn't know. There was no way to go back because it was a one way street and everyone in that part of town just walked. People would be walking on the streets in front of cars so they drove slow to avoid hitting anyone. They were almost out of that part of town and connecting to the highway when a speeding car came zooming up behind them. The car made a quick turn to try and get around them, hit several people, kept going, and crashed into Ayesha's car. Her car swerved off the road and then rolled down a steep but short hill (about 12 rolls long). The car then slid upside down and crashed into a fallen tree. Ayesha's parents were unconscious and she couldn't feel her right arm. The guy that crashed into them kept screaming at her family for being in the way but Ayesha couldn't hear over the ringing in her ears. A car pulled over in the side of the road and called 911. Ambulances and police came soon after. At the hospital, Ayesha could feel her arm again, but it felt really weird. She wondered if it was broken. She tried lifting it but it felt super heavy. She sat up using her left arm to try and see it laying in a sling above her head. What she saw was unimaginable, a prosthetic robotic arm. Soon after she woke up, a doctor came in and explained everything, how her arm was crushed when the other car ran into her car, how the man was arrested because he killed someone on the sidewalk where his car should not have been, and... how her parents died by the other car and the tree. Ayesha was devastated. Her parents didn't have siblings like her and her grandparents lived in Africa and Sweden. She had no choice but to be in social services and have foster parents. She had to switch schools because her foster parents lived in another state. She doesn't want people to know about her prosthetic arm so she always wears a jacket and writes with her left hand (she used to be right handed). Her foster family was the Chambers. Their only son finished college and lived in a city in another state, so she doesn't really know him. Her foster parents don't really know what she is going through and are sometimes insensitive because they want to know more about the accident. Marcia, Ayesha's foster mom, immigrated from Portugal. She taught her husband and son to speak Portuguese and they often speak it a lot in the house, so she is left out of many conversations. She made friends with Niamh at her new school. They recognized each other from the Social Services office. They were both in foster care and both of their mothers were dead. They both agreed to tell no one that they were in foster care. Niamh moved to lots of places because none of her other foster parents wanted a quiet child. She told Social Services that she wanted to stay in her school district so that she could be with Ayesha. Niamh's Story: Niamh was born in Ireland. She lived there with her parents in a 1 bedroom apartment. When she was about 3 years old, her and her family immigrated to America so they could better take care of her younger sibling on the way. Her mother became ill on the boat while they were traveling. She spent 4 days in America before she died. It was devastating for Niamh to lose her mother and an exciting new sibling. Her father started making irresponsible choices in grief after his wife died. He became unfit to take care of Niamh. She was put into social services at the age of 9. Her father moved back to Ireland, continuing to make bad decisions. She would love to visit him someday, with proper guardians around, of course. Niamh met Ayesha, first at the Social Services Office, and then got to know her better at school (I won't get deep into that because it was stated above). She is interested in meeting Henry Carter because both of their dads are in similar situations, although he doesn't know where his dad lives. It would just be nice to connect with someone else and bond. Niamh is not good at keeping the same foster parents. She might ask to meet her real father and the foster parents would get offended. She might ask for something and they think she is greedy. Her foster siblings might try to get her in trouble and then she is kicked out. Because of this, she uses her original last name because it is always changing! Niamh misses her mom because she barely got to remember her. All that she has left of her is a necklace with the sun and moon on it, she thinks it is a reminder that her mother is always there with her, day and night. Niamh wears it everywhere. I hope you enjoyed reading about these 2 new characters! Have a wonderful day!
