Description

Special thanks to @-Midnight-Design- for helping me shorten this tutorial quite a bit. Note that you can actually achieve the same result much more easily using programs such as Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity etc. However, I wanted to make this tutorial available to everyone so I did not explain using editing software. If you have experience with outside programs and understand the gist of what I'm doing, by all means go do it in a real program haha. This is an interesting technique I discovered to improve resolution in still image icons. I often found that my drawings performed lackluster as icons due to their pixelated quality. I passed this off as one of Scratch's limitations initially. Yet, I began noticing that animated GIFs remained vivid even when zoomed up close. But I wanted a non-animated icon. How could I make a high resolution icon while still keeping it a single frame? That's the exposition for this tutorial :) The explanation and more technical details are featured in the last slide.
