Backstory: While he wasn't officially a Blund, Mark had grown up with Raymond and Ben, and had become close friends with them. Most people assumed he was somebody's second cousin or something because he was there so often. When the three graduated from high school and went to attend Central Valley College, they stuck near each other most of the time. However, when Ray began to develop feelings for Julia Reid, a girl from the family of Blunds' across-the-street neighbors/longterm rivals, Mark, unlike Ben, took a much stronger approach, warning him about all of the terrible things that could happen because of his decisions. While it had sounded silly at the time, he turned out to be right- and ended up taking an attack meant for Ray after Julia's cousin Tyler found out about Raymond's crush. He's okay now thanks to John's fortunate interference, but he's kept his distance from Ray and Julie since then.
