Instructions

Many thanks to @lyricali for the graphics, without which this project wouldn't have been made. This is a recreation of Homestar Runner's "Trogdor!! The Board Game", and follows the same rules. — RULES (NORMAL MODE) — To win, burninate all tiles, cottages, and remove all peasants (by eating or burninating them). When you start, you will be given a random Keeper and Item of Trogdor (although you can choose a different one if you want). These give each player special powers on their turn. Items must be recharged after use by fulfilling the specified requirement on the player's turn. Items can only be used once per turn. After that, you will begin the first phase of your turn. Each turn, you can choose an action card, giving you a number of action points (AP) for that turn and a temporary power. The other card will remain an option for your next turn. If you don't like either option, you can click "X" to recieve 5 AP and no powers. Once you choose a card, you can perform actions for 1 AP each. These actions are: • MOVE — Move Trogdor. • BURNINATE — Burninate your current tile, or any peasants or elligible cottages on it. When burninated, peasants will run around and burninate other tiles, peasants, and elligible cottages before disappearing (unless they visit the lake, in which case they stop their path and survive). Cottages can only be burninated if the tiles surrounding it in all directions (including diagonally, and the tile it's on) are burninated. Due to this requirement, cottages on edges and corners are easier to burninate. The lake tile has a similar requirement; it can only be burninated if the two tiles north and west are burninated. • DEVOUR — Eat a peasant on your tile, adding it to your health. • HIDE/BURROW — You can hide on mountain tiles, ending your turn. When hiding, enemies cannot hurt you. If you are on a tunnel tile, you can burrow to the other tunnel. • USE ITEM — This action depends on your current item, and does not cost AP. • PASS — Click the arrow icon to skip the rest of your turn. These actions can be affected by your current powers; for example, some cards grant you diagonal movement, or burninating distant tiles. When your AP drops to 0, the second phase of your turn begins. • PEASANT SPAWNING — Sometimes, you will be asked to take a peasant from your health and place it on the board. The arrow points in the direction of the next peasant movement, and shows green if they will repair. If all cottages are occupied or burninated, or the number of peasants on the icon is met, peasant spawning ends. • ENEMY MOVEMENT — All peasants move the same direction, and the same is true for enemies, who move in a longer pattern. Sometimes peasants will repair visited tiles. Knights will always repair visited cottages. The archer shoots forward and backward along its last move. If a knight or an arrow visits Trogdor's tile, Trogdor takes damage. If Trogdor takes damage, the Troghammer cards are added to the deck. The first time a Troghammer card is drawn, he will appear in the center of the board. Every subsequent time, he moves. He also moves during phase 2 with the rest of the knights. If he ends his path on a tile occupied by another enemy, he continues moving. If Trogdor takes damage while his Trog-Meter (health) is empty, "Trogdor's Fiery Rage" begins. Trogdor will move automatically around the board, burninating everything in his path. If he succeeds in completing the game, you win. If not, you lose. Feel free to read the board game's official rulebook for more detailed instructions: https://is.gd/trogdorrules — RULES (FREEDOM MODE) — The rules are the same as normal mode, except your AP never drops to 0, so you must end your turn manually using the arrow icon. Additionally, the game doesn't end when you win or lose. There is an icon to restart the game, and "K" and "I" icons for changing your Keepers and Items, respectively. You can burninate any cottage, use items without recharging, and even unburninate tiles (using the "Burninate" button). This mode is not recommended for serious playing, but rather for learning and experimentation. — RULES (HALDO MODE) — This mode is the same as normal mode, except the archer shoots in all four directions, and his arrows have more chaotic behavior. • If a peasant is arrowed, it is immobilized and cannot move, so it must be eaten at some point. These do not count in the tally for determining peasant spawning. • Knights deflect arrows. • The Troghammer does a spin attack, inflicting damage on all 8 adjacent tiles (but not his own). • Arrows shoot through tunnels. • Unburninated cottages block arrows. • Burninated cottages set arrows aflame. • If Trogdor is on the archer's tile, he sets all four arrows aflame. • Flaming arrows burninate tiles, peasants, and eligible cottages. Feel free to read the official Book of Haldo for more detailed instructions: https://is.gd/bookofhaldo
