Instructions

Arrow keys: Move Rocket Girl left, right, and up towards the sky! Watch your fuel gauge in the top left, Rocket Girl will need to refill her tank at the gas station if she runs out of fuel! Correct answers add fuel! If this is useful to you, you might soon realize that memorization is a bit tempting. Try changing it up by changing the values in the game! You can do this easily by clicking "See inside" and changing the sprites and data variables. Can you figure out how to remix this project in a way that correctly uses a larger list of randomized questions and answers? Try setting a goal of fuel to attain and keep at one time. Can you make it to 10k fuel? Remember, the gas station only tops you off to 2.5k fuel. Tip: You only have to barely touch a platform to climb up it. Some platforms can be climbed up just by running off of another platform. If you find it too difficult to reach each correct answer and build up a reservoir of fuel, try adjusting the code so that correct answers give double the fuel each time.

Description

This project uses the "JetPack _Girl" animation that comes with Scratch 1.4 and Scratch sounds. I made this game with my son while he was learning about 50 cent increments in school. The goal is to prepare enough money for the number of packages specified. Like our Cylinder Volume Estimation Game derivative of JetPack_Girl, we added fuel drain when pressing up, platforms to rest on, a refuel station, a question/answer system that awards points for correct answers, random background music that changes depending on Rocket Girl's elevation, and small trinkets in design. List of peripherals that work well with this game: -keyboard (arrow keys) -my homebrew 8-direction joystick, for use with MaKey MaKey (http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/10809793/) -Adafruit's Retro Gaming with RaspPi (http://learn.adafruit.com/retro-gaming-with-raspberry-pi) -Help me find more in the comments section and I'll add them here!
