Bio: Name: Myst Age: Infinite Pronouns: They/Them Species: Thought to be some type of ancient sea monster. While not much information on this species remains, some call it, "The Great Unknown". Likes: Warmth, rain, drawing, friends, cats, trees, hot cocoa. Dislikes: Cold, being alone, the ocean (surprisingly). Their Story/Backstory: At an extremely young age, Myst was cast out of their family of Sea Monsters for being born mute. Lost, they swam from ocean to ocean, in search of a place to call home. They eventually came to a small misty town by the docs. Almost no one ever came by the docs, and Myst had a fairly safe place to live with no humans to hunt them down but Myst was also glad that it was not deep in the ocean. One day, a girl came to the docs, and just sat there and wrote something for a while. Myst carefully watched her from the shadows. The girl came more often, coming to the docs once every week. Every time, Myst watched her. One day, Myst gave themselves away by accident, when they became tangled in an abandoned fishing net. They managed to untangle themselves, but not without the girl seeing them. After that, the girl would always leave a small gift, poem, or bit of food whenever she went to the doc, just for Myst. Myst took them and treasured them, even if they got a little waterlogged. Eventually, Myst started coming closer and closer to where the girl sat. They would have conversations (although the conversations were very one-sided), and Myst got used to trusting people even more. This was when Myst got their name. The girl named them after the misty corners of the doc where the two had met. Eventually, the girl convinced Myst to come out of the water, and walk among them in a form that made Myst seem like a human. This was when Myst was introduced to some of their favorite things, drawing, hot cocoa, and cats. The girl and Myst became inseparable, and even some of the townsfolk started to trust Myst. Myst finally felt at home for once... Until one day, when Myst and the girl were walking along the beach (you knew this was coming). Myst had prepared a drawing that they created especially for the girl. They knew they couldn't speak, but they had hoped to convey how much they loved the girl in pictures rather than in words. A strong wind blew the paper out of Myst's hands and toward the ocean. The girl ran after it, wading deeper and deeper into the sea. Myst held back, for they still didn't dare to go too far into the water, for fear of the ones Myst had come from. The girl never came back. She was pulled from Myst as if by some great, unknown force. (You see what I'm getting at here?) Myst searched until night fell, and they searched through the night. By dawn, they returned to the town, the sky painted a dreary grey-white behind them. Of course, the townsfolk blamed Myst, and chased Myst into the water. Myst was far too strange, far too different, to be truly trusted by the townsfolk. Unbeknownst to Myst, the townsfolk had just been waiting for something to blame on Myst, so that Myst could be banished for good. To this day, Myst wanders through the water. With their home ripped out of their fingers, they won't make the mistake of trusting anyone... at least, not yet...
All art by me. The story is full of symbolism. Can you find it?
