He was that kid who never got involved, and nobody even knew existed. He couldn't help it. He was just the kind of guy who blended in. But one day, he was noticed. By the bully of the village, Brimstone. In short, she made Zarnik very angry. It was an anger that he'd never known before, and his eyes flickered with energy, releasing an invisible 'magical death ray'. Zarnik knew that this should have killed Brimstone (don't ask why) but she survived (with some very bad disfigurements). Of course this unlocked her smokey powers and they had a good old alchemical fight, which ended in Zarnik killing Brimstone with his magical death stare. But do not worry, this is not the end for Brimstone! Anyway, Zarnik was horrified and ran away, covering his eyes with a blindfold so he would not hurt anyone else. On his travels, he met Apeiron, who was busy trying to eliminate the questers (Ignis, Aqua, Terra, Aer, Aether and Phlostigon) so she could find the magic controlling stones (working title). Apeiron blackmailed him into becoming her servant (he was not possessed, do not worry, he was just way too scared to do anything other than what she said). He found the questers and traveled alongside them for a while, developing a crush on Terra as he did. He made friends with them, and decided that he didn't want to hand them in to Apeiron. But Apeiron wasn't having any of it. She plagued his sleep with nightmares and threatened to kill him if he disobeyed her any longer. Zarnik ignored her - he had finally found the courage to do so. But Apeiron (who has infinite and limitless power) brought Brimstone back to life with the one goal of destroying Zarnik completely and utterly.
